I was shocked when I read this...and somewhat amused as well. Apparently master chef Julia Child was a spy during the World war II era, acording to the Associated Press. Somehow the image of that particular woman as a spy conjurs up her lurking around a country inn kitchen to gather secret recipes. lol WASHINGTON - Before Julia Child became known to the world as a leading chef, she admitted at least one failing when applying for a job as a spy: impulsiveness. Details about Child's background as a government agent come into the public spotlight Thursday with the National Archives' release of more than 35,000 top-secret personnel files of World War II-era spies. The CIA held this information for decades. You can read the article here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080814/ap_on_go_ot/spies_revealed_19

I was watching that story on the news today. I was pretty surprised about it. I guess you just can never know who is and who is not a spy. I think it might be fun to be an interntional spy.

I'm not sure it would be fun, I don't think it is the James Bond stuff we like to watch on TV. But having never done that, who knows? You might be right.

I heard about that somewhere once before, I think it was on TV not too long ago. How cool! She is definitely one of the forerunners of the successful cooking shows we have today.
