Jimmy Wales,Wikipedia founder, hopes that Wikia Search, similar to the principles behind Wikipedia, will break Google's domination as the world's most widely used Internet search engine.
Referring to existing search algorithms as absolute 'blackbox', he stresses on the difference between wikia search and existing search models. Wikia search will be based on an open platform. So, will the users have access to modifying search results? How would it be then?
Open directory projects like DMOZ has already witnessed an extremely tough challenge in indexing website manually. Hopefully, Wales is not relying on DMoz model. Then, what it would be like?

Will you use this search engine? What can be the model?

Not familiar yet with wikisearch. But there's one danger to this, that readers could edit the information and may well be subject to manipulation by the no gooders. But it's a good idea if it gets to be implemented honestly.

I do not think spamming will be a big problem with wiki search as they must have gathered good experience in fighting out spam so far. But the biggest challenge is to develop the algorithm - I'm still confused.
