Text Language in School

Over the summer ive spent nearly all day textin and chatting. i hav somewhat of a hard time because im used to using text langauage. like 2 instead of to, b instead of be, and n instead of in, etc. i was wondering if evryone else had that same problem

Its a big problem people using text language and its only going to get worse. You say your going to have difficulty after one summer of shortcutting but imagine what your kids will be like if they do it all the time when not writing academically it will start to slip into their work and may one day even be an accepted practice in schools which I think would be a terrible shame, I am not even an old fuddy duddy I just think its a shame that laziness will lead to unrecognisable language from some people in years to come. Hopefully I am just being over-dramatic though and either it will go out of fashion or the level of teaching will step up to match the txtlk.

i sorta agree with you. it can be a problem especially if they begin to accept it in school. i think using it is great for notes but not for work you are going to turn in. i dont think its as much laziness as it is getting your point across in a faster way...i think its only ok in certain informal circumstances...but that doesnt mean all informal circum. or otherwise it will slip into work
