How many times did it take you to pass the exam?

I was insanely nervous each and every time I took the drivers exam. Yes, I took it more than once. In fact it took me three tries to finally pass it. I was 17 before I finally received my license and I couldn't have been any more relieved after that third attempt. My first attempt I ran a yellow, rolled a stop sign, couldn't back straight 50 feet and failed miserably at trying to parallel park. The second time I failed to signal, rolled another stop sign, and actually hit the van I was parking behind on my second attempt at parallel parking. It was a great feeling to drive home after finally completing the test the third time. I was little embarrassed then but I feel like I'm a better driver than most people out there now. :-P

Since we are talking about a driver's exam then I would say once. But then again the driver's exam here in my country is probably not as strict as yours. I thought I wouldn't get my license on my first try because I was a bit pressured since I did not have any formal lessons on driving. I had may family members that taught me in some unorthodox and most likely illegal manner. LOL But then again I have no right to bad mouth their methods since in the end it gave me my license.

I got my licence the first try. Never had a problem at all with it. The instructor that was giving me the road test couldn't beleive out how good I was with the stick. Yes I drove stick for my test and not an automatic. I perfer driving stick over automatic any day. However my road test lasted a total of 10 minutes. On the way back to the driver vehicle bureau. I was tee boned. Yes through my road test. I was proceeding through my green light. As 3 cars have already cleared. Out of the corner of my eye a truck came and plowed into me. Needless to say I still passed. The instructor gave me credit for keeping my cool and handled it very well. However the driver was drunk of the vehicle that hit us and that was a mess to say the least. Because of the cops having to come out and deal with this drunk dumb @$$.

Well simply, too many. It took me long enough to get the permit because I had some crazy old lady always staring at me while I was trying to take the test, not to mention I always ended up getting trick questions or questions that could have more then one answer. I mean, why even put them up? Supposedly they follow through with such intricate detail and questions like that end up there. I wish I could tell ya' some of the questions but it's been a while since I took the permit tests. Then came the drivers license finally, guess who I ended up with? That crazy old lady that was staring at me. Not only was she quite rude, but paranoid as well. If my hand wasn't exactly on the wheel & I didn't turn the car on exactly right I would get points taken off. It was just crazyy. I had her twice and failed both times. Here in the state I live in the rule is that you can't have the same drivers test person three times. The third time I got a different drivers instructer who happened to be the manager of the whole place & guess what? I had no problems with him and passed the test with flying colors. How ironic, eh? I'm glad I never have to see that crazy old lady ever again!

I actually passed it my first time, and that was about two weeks ago. Although, I am almost 19 rather than 16 like many first timers. I think I just barely did, though. The guy said I needed to pay more attention and I remember I messed up on the parking on a hill bit. In my state you need to do 90 degree backing and parallel parking on the test. Luckily, I passed both of those perfectly or I would have failed with the little mistakes on other things that added up.
