To Give Up or Not

Hi, I'm currently a BS Computer Science student for two years but those years seems useless for me. In my course, I've learned that it's hard to study with. My classmates and I fail one or two subjects every semester and all of us are mostly behind the timeline that should be followed under the curriculum. Nowadays, I really feel hopeless in graduating this course within two years. I'm thinking of shifting into another course almost every day. But I can't just leave this course right away because this is just what I wanted since I was in sixth grade. I'm consistent with it until I graduated high school I'm also afraid that the moment that I'll leave this course and find a much easier course to finish, I might not be happy with my career life after graduation because I chose the simpler course because I can graduate with it with ease and not because I want that course. What will I do?

Hacker, it sounds as if you have almost given up in your heart - but it would be a much better idea to be strong and tell yourself you are going to persevere and try really hard from now on. You have come so far it would be terrible to throw it all away just for the sake of a few nights out instead of studying hard. You say you've wanted this since you were in sixth grade - so you CAN make it happen! If you don't, you'll always wonder what might have been, and you'll feel sorry you settled for an easier path. Have faith in yourself!

Thanks for the positive words. Sometimes I really feel down with it and I don't know why. It's like messing up my own dreams. But your words gives me a much better point of view in life.

Well it seems to me that you really like that course of yours. Are the subjects that you fail major subjects? If they are minor subject then you don't need to fret. Well as for being left behind in the curriculum time line its a natural occurrence. Even back when I was in college we always end up not being able to finish the course syllabus. You should know that college is really a hard step to finish no matter what your course is. In the end I suggest that you really think about this course of yours before you decide. On one side you have gone half way to finishing what you have started and you are passionate about this course of yours. On the other hand you say that you are having a difficult time studying. Perhaps a change in study habits is all that you need and all will be well. Truth be told, its not what you graduate from in college that makes you happy in life, its doing what you like that will make you happy and have a successful career.
