Are any of you familiar with the Joby Gorillapod? It's a lightweight, compact, portable, bendable, wrappable tripod!
It comes in three different models: the original, the SLR and the SLR-ZOOM. The main difference between them is that they hold different weights.
Well, I'm looking to get a gorillapod for one of my cameras. The weight of the camera is the same as the max weight of the Gorillapod Original. That should be fine right? Or should I go for the next size up (the Gorillapod SLR)? The next size up is $15 more and I'd rather not spend that much more money if I don't have to.
Do any of you have Gorillapods? Which size Gorillapod do you have and what camera(s) do you use it with? Do you think the Gorillapod Original works fine with cameras at the max weight?
Thanks!

Good question. I have been wondering about those myself, so will be interesting to see the responses you get here. They just don't look all that stable to me. They do look like they would be easy to take along, and not take up much room. I actually don't have a lot of times that I would use a tripod, but it would be nice to have one on some occassions.

I've seen some great photos taken with Gorillapods! And the SLR-ZOOM model looks pretty sturdy when you've got a big old camera on it!
Right now I just want a little one for my camcorder, but I'd like to eventually get the SLR-ZOOM model for my DSLR since carrying around a tripod isn't always practical!

Oh those look cool!
I could really use something that flexible since I take photos in a lot of different situations. I'm often stuck without using a tripod only because there is no way possible to use a standard tripod where I'm shooting.
I would think that if they put a certain maximum weight, they weren't lying. It could probably even go a little over that, but they don't recommend it. The only thing I'd be worried about, is if it is structurally different for an SLR (like it has a larger base or something like that).

My brother just bought one for his digital camera and its really handy and convenient when there isn't any good platforms for your camera to stand-by while it takes a picture.. he'd just look for anything the the gorillapod can cling on to and not only would your camera be taking picture on any place, the angle would be more unique than the conventional.
As long as it is sturdy enough and not easily be knocked down in cace an accident happens.. its more better that way..
