In my house, we make a habit of taping things to our walls - little pieces of paper that have some piece of writing that we have found helpful or useful. One quotation that made it to our wall was a saying from Thomas Edison, who said: "Many of life's 'failures' are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."
