I'm a soccer coach for a group of 9 year olds. I need to find the leader of the team. What do i look for in a 9 year old to see the qualities? Thanks

Well as in any search for any leader (within any age group) I think honesty and integrity are extrememly important...someone who is true to themselves as well as with others. Without honesty I do not think they will gain any kind of trust among the team members. I also feel that a leader should have some ability to see the "strengths" and "talents" of the other people in the group. Maybe you can look for someone who pats others on their backs or encourages thems. I also think that patience and understanding will be important in a group of 9 year olds. Someone who gets angry or frustrated on a regular basis - probably would not make an ideal leader. You may also look for someone who is a good listener. You certainly do not want to have to repeat things any more than you already need to. :-) Well...this is my two cents worth. I think it is awesome to think about what to look for in any leader...especially in youth. Good luck with your search and your team! GO TEAM! :-)

Maybe not by looking at the kids as a leader but by looking at the kids that are to be lead, look for the one they seem to look up to if any, or whom they admire if any, one that looks like they would take notice of... maybe.
