Going away on holiday or a business trip? Concerned about leaving your pet with a neighbour? Or worried about taking your pet to a kennel or cattery?

Before my dog passed away last year, I always traveled by car so that she could come with us. About 4 years back she was diagnosed with diabetes & I just felt that no one else would be as committed or as careful with her feeding & insulin schedule. It worked out wonderfully- she loved being with us when we were just relaxing & we got to spend extra time with her before she passed.

Very unfortunate my place do not have such services. My pet dog have to travel with us if it happens that I have to take a short trip from one place to another. But if I were to go overseas I make sure that someone is left in the house to look after my pet.

Hi as2006,
When I went away on holiday couple of years ago, my neighbour looked after my two cats but my cat stayed home and my neighbour came in to feed them she had my house keys so it was perfect, they had the catflap so it was no problem. I would never put them in the cattery, when I came home trhey both sent me to coventry, meaning they ignored me for two hours before they came fussying round me.

I have this friend and she takes her pet to a cat hotel. I think this is a bit exaggerated, as you can just give your pet to a family member, neighbour or good friend that you trust.
If I were allowed to have a pet, I wouldn't take my pet to a kennel, cattery or some kind of pet hotel. I would just leave it up to my neighbour or maybe a friend that is willing to take care of the pet.
