Does a cat wagging its tail mean it is in some kind of a confusion?

Any cat I have ever had, had alwaus curled its tail into a question mark looking shape when confused. Those that shook their tail (or wagged) was usually mad & some even bit while doing it. So WATCH OUT!!!

I agree with the others. Cats are very displeased if the tip of the tail is moving. If they are watching birds, it does mean attack is imminent. Beware of the tip moving. I've been swatted if I'm slow to notice this; sometimes even snapped at.

My cat will wag his tail when he is mad or excited about something. I can kind of tell by the way he wags his tail. He doesn't do it very often but he does it. He will even half way wag his tail when he lays down. He will like lay down and move his tail up and then lay it back down, he will do this for quite a while. Most of the time if my cat is mad about something he will pin his ears back, matter of fact he does that more often when he is mad. He never wags his tail really fast or anything usually it is slow and only does it for a minute or two.

Tail wagging usually means they're mad, especially if it's a rapid switch of the tail. A more gentle wagging I think is sort of like a dog in that they are being friendly and want you to pet them.

My cat turns her head on it's side when she's confused! When she wags her tail it usually means that she's annoyed.
