Do you see early retirement in your future?

Hey, I know what your thinking, bad timing on this discussion but Im serious. Yea, the economic downturn of the century is here but maybe for some this has been the motivator for some to take saving seriously, not rely on totally on the 401K when you get your future job, but now. I think this crisis we face might just mold many young entrepreneurs for whatever the future may bring. Do you see early retirement in your future?

Hello revellanotvanella, it's been awhile since I've answered your discussion, and this one is pretty interesting. I see myself having an early retirement, yes, perhaps when I reached my early 40s. I intend to save up as much as possible and set up a mini business. And when it has worked out, I would hire people to run it for me, only to come and check out things as and when, ha! Alright, hope that's not my wishful thinking, but that doesn't mean a whole retirement in that sense then. On another note, perhaps I would be able to find a nice publisher, write a book and enjoy the benefits/rewards of it from the sale. And I could have a mini retirement. I believe that nothing is permanent and there's no fixed strategy. If I could have mini retirement here and there at times, and say, save up enough money, resign from my job and go travel and come back for a fresher outlook on life, I call that a mini retirement as well and I would love all these small things so that I won't be burned out. I don't think I would want to have a major retirement and a permanent one at that, because my brain needs to be doing something rather than just sitting around enjoying my lazy days. LOL. Take care and have a nice day, my friend. Nice discussion here..c;)

-Smiles- .. There's no stopping Stephen King isn't it? LOL. I agree with you, and perhaps I should get that 'book' soon that you have. To create some new lists of mini-retirement methods for myself. Enjoy yourself here as well, hon...take care. c;)

Yea, its good to find your hobbies now so when you do get up there your not twiddling your thumbs wondering, what was it I enjoyed doing? I too have 'writing a book' on my list of potential things I could do even if it is a mini retirment, that would be well worth it. I don't think living a life of a writer you ever become content enough to really retire, look at Steven King, lol. Hey, maybe thats where things will go once we have robots doing all our work, we'll all have to become better entreprenuers and start to retire young, thats an interesting concept. Thanks for stopping by

I think your mistaken and you should be just starting to consider it and we all know the Social Security system is highly flawed maybe even nonexistant by the time you make it to 60 (maybe this will go higher) but if not now at least by the time your 28 when you should start setting aside small amounts (I think the recommended amount is 200/mo) at a time. `
