The first job I ever had was at Little Caesars, a pizza place. It was one of my favorite jobs too. It was a very relaxed job. We were only busy during dinner time, the rest of the time it was very slow, especially on Sundays. One Sunday night, we even played the game Cooties! I worked there for 9 months. The only reason I quit was because one of the supervisors quit to start up his own store and took a lot of the best employees with him. We had all these new people and there were just too many problems after that. It was like a whole new place. Anyways, what is the first job you ever had? How long did you work there? Why did you leave it? (If you did) And feel free to share any stories about any of the crazy experiences you had working there.

When I told this to my son and some friends, they would not believe me. But really my first real job was a 'button sewer' in a garment factory run by catholic nuns and I was just 15 years old then. I wanted to help my mother so much to earn so I urged her to let me be a worker in that garment factory. Although the nuns don't agree with the idea, I persuaded them by saying that I wanna earn extra for my school allowance and that I won't be working only after school or whenever I'm free. It was a piece-meal rate job, that they've paid me by pieces of coveralls that I've sewed buttons on. If I remember it right, I used to earn 20 pesos for the whole month. Hey, but that was quite a sum of money before and I'm so happy with my earnings. From then on, I never stopped working on other odd jobs until I finished my college and ending on a decent one.

I did. The nuns are so nice to me giving me more time to study than work and sometimes giving me food. I guess this is where I got most of my compassion to the poor since I also participated in their missions in feeding the poor.

Hi _sketch_ - That is a good question... as everyone who has ever worked before has had a 1st job, right?! LoL! My first job was during the summertime after I turned 16 years old. I worked at J.C. Penney in the housewares department. Needless to say, it was definitely NOT my favorite job of all time, but it was a good experience. I guess. Little Caesars sounds like a great job as you probably got free or at least discounted pizza all of the time, huh?! I only worked at my first job for just that one summer before returning to high school again.

I did get discounted pizza all the time, and sometimes free pizza. I gained so much weight working there. lol! But I didn't care since pizza is so good. JC Penney doesn't seem like it would be all that fun to work at. It seems like they would be real strict and uptight. But at least you were getting paid.

Yes, they were pretty strict and uptight. I felt also like I was not given much help in learning how to use the cash register especially. It seemed like every time I was alone was when customers would come pouring in with difficult transactions, mainly returns and exchanges. Of course, I had no idea how to do those things since I was a new employee and I could never seem to find help when I needed it!

That's exactly how it was when I worked at Shopko. I hate jobs where they don't teach you anything.

Wow. That would be an easy job. Probably didn't take up much time either. That's cool. I wonder if I could do that at my school?
