Well, my husband just got called and they will be leaving at 5am to go to Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Sometimes they do it this way..send them down before the storm hits. That way they are able to start fixing the power lines that much faster.
We still hope nothing bad happens. It's better for them to drive there and back than it is for a bad storm to hit and hurt people and homes!
Good luck to everyone in the storms path!

The weather forecast just started on the 5PM news, and they said the lower Keys will get 40mph winds but everyone further north will be OK, with 30-40 mph gusts. I'm relieved, especially since they already canceled school for tomorrow, just in case, so we teachers get the same break as the kids.

... and better home sleeping in than starting a new school year! I love teaching, but I could really do without first and last days' insanity!

Hey sunnflr.
So, your husband must work for the power company! I work with a woman whose husband works for Florida Power and Light down here. And, as soon as a storm is heading this way, he gets his orders to get there a day or so before the storm is due to hit.
Thanks for the luck. And thanks to your husband for being willing to travel so far from home to work.
I am hoping it will remain a tropical storm.

He works for a contractor, but it's basically the same thing, just not a utility company like Georgia Power or something. We hope eventually he can get on with a utility or co-op because they have better benefits.
Good luck to you. We are hoping it stays small also!

I am safe in Ohio but am praying that the storm in Florida does not get too bad. I hope your husband will be ok too. Hope he gets home fast! :)

Hi my friend,
My sis-in-law lives in Florida and she always cringes when she hears a storm is brewing or a hurricane is coming off the coast. She's lived down there for the past 9 years and has become accustomed to the storms, but it doesn't mean she likes them.
Hope your
husband stays safe!

Thank you, me too. I worry about him when he goes on storm but I know it's just part of the job. They always try to be careful.
I don't think I could live there because of the storms. I wouldn't want to live in California because of the earth quakes either!
