When I flew from PI to USA, I was alone and unfortunately, the flight I had from Detroit to Missouri was canceled and have to wait another day! I don't know anyone in Detroit and it was also my first time.Anyway, I met a Chinese girl who have the same destination so we decided to just look for another option.. We tried to manage to communicate with a lot of signs, I can't speak her language and She has little English! ANyway, that night we found a flight going to Minneapolis and from there to Missouri, when we got in MInneapolis, flight going to MO was canceled! In short, we end up staying in one hotel and wait until the next day to fly back to Detroit! In short, I found a great friend but because of stress and all the disappointments, we parted without asking any contact number! Have you tried meeting someone and you spend night together but never met them again or no contact after that?

Hi cupid, yea..it's nice to have company in moment like this, I was hesitant to trust at first but she seems nice and indeed a nice girl, we just don't talk a lot..lol! But, you know I don't like to do it again, I need to be more careful about trusting people! It was very risky, we were just lucky that we are both good..

Sorry about that. I had this problem once, but I realized that it was a good thing that we did not get in contact with one another because something could have happended to that person, and if I formed an attachment to that person, I might have been in for a world of hurt.

Things tend to always happen for a reason. "To every action there is a reaction." It may not have been meant to be. Something may have happened to her to cause her not to see you again. That is the way it is.

I have never done this. I am glad that it worked out for you, meeting a complete stranger and sharing a hotel overnight is very brave. I don't know if I would of done that myself though.

I don't have exactly the same thing that happened to you. What I remember was when I attended one seminar somewhere in Davao City. The seminar lasted for three days and we came to stay in the hotel for two nights. The guys was from Manila and we talked of meeting in Manila in the future. Unfortunately, we also parted ways on the third day without even leaving our names and contact number. So the thing is, when I came to visit Manila last year, we did not meet. (neildc @ red/89/1640)

Hi che, I am just maybe fortunate because my Trip from PI to US is just fine though I had some tough moments too, but I never spend a night with a complete stranger. Like you, I also traveled alone and is my first time to leave PI and enter US. I just have only one stop over, in Los Angeles, there I almost cried because the airport is so big and I'm having a hard time finding my next flight plus all the immigration checking which I spend hours on the line. It is really hard when you are traveling alone in a foreign land. I was just thankful I was able to manage to board for my next flight to New York on time. I don't know what will I do if like you flights are delayed or canceled? Filipinos are really brave

Hi Bebs, Ohhh...I really want to cry that time but if I will not find some way, no one would help me..It was very hard really but in the end satisfying! I was just lucky that she was a good girl also! But, it makes me think not to do it again, you know! It's not good to trust right away!Mabuhay!

This story reminded me of the Cuban i met when i was still working in GTMO... he like "deflected" from his country with other Cubans... we became good friends... eventhought he knows very little English... and i don't really speak Spanish... he was relocated to Costa Rica... and the bad thing was that i was not even able to say goodbye because his flight was rescheduled at an earlier time... i just hope that he is doing well with his life right now... since i know i will never see him again...

Hi aseretdd, That is really the sad thing sometimes..anyway, I want to learn from this lesson that if ever I will meet good people again, I will always find time to ask even an email address only! LOL!

Hello checapricorn, I had a similar experiencelike this. I was in Tashkent alone while my boyfriend (my husband now) was working. I went out to the nearest shop and saw another fellow Malaysian. We looked at each other in disbelief. I never expected to see another Malaysian there though I know there might be many of them. We chatted for awhile but didn't even ask for a name or a contact number. I only knew that she was there, visiting her friends. We departed without knowing anything about each other. When I told my husband, the very first thing he asked me was where did she live which I couldn't answer. On the day of my departure to Malaysia, I met her again at the airport. I got to know that she is a lecturer from Sarawak (another state in Malaysia) and at least I had her name *smiles*

Hi Checapricorn, How frustrating for you both but wonderful that you did manage to communciate and spend the time you did together, sometimes in life we are supposed to only meet people for a brief time but they can be atched on out memory and we wish we had of exchanged numbers. I have met many people along the way but go with the fact that if we were supposed to have stayed in contact we would have exchanged numbers or destiny will have us bummping into each other at some other time and place and upon this second meeting would definitely exchange numbers. Yeah things like that can happen. Before my flight for Malaysia last December, I had to wait at the domestic airport for the shuttle to take all passengers with flight transfers to the NAIA I. In the bus, I sat with this guy who was from Cebu. So I was relieved to have befriended someone who speaks the same dialect as I do. We were on the same flight. While paying for the terminal fee, he didn't have any change with him so he asked me if he could borrow 20 pesos and he'll just pay for it once we arrive at our destination. So I lent him 20 pesos. We had different seat numbers and I saw he was searching the crowd for me once we were at the passport checking counter. Unfortunately, I got stuck in the airport for 2 hours because immigration asked me for the work permit, which I no longer have with me because the Malaysian embassy in Manila took it. I couldn't have obtained a photocopy of it because the letter was sealed and I was instructed not to open it as only the peeps at the embassy are allowed to open it. So I didn't get that guy's number. At least it was only 20 pesos.

Hi jolie, I agree..wow! we really can't tell what will happen and for sure he will never also forget you for saving him for that fee! It's funny really when we have experiences like this, at the same time, teach a value or lesson in the future! Thanks for sharing!
