Chickens, pigs and goats, oh my! The goats tried to eat people's clothes today

at the picnic. They said the male goat stole a tablecloth one day and ran off with it, they had to chase him down! They're very small goats, about the size of a 30lb dog on short stilts. Last time we went, they tried to eat our shoelaces, so we didn't wear any today, but they tried to eat the front corners of any clothing they saw hanging down. I warned one parent to be careful because her daughter's ponytail (little girl) was just at their height. The goats were put back in their pen during the picnic. I kept petting them whenever they came near me to keep them an arm's distance away.
The pigs were funny, they were running back and forth and putting on a show in their pen.
The chickens and the rooster seemed boring until we turned to walk away, I don't know what they were doing to eat other, but I could have sworn one yelled, "Ye-ow!"
When was the last time you saw farm animals? Which ones did you see? Which ones did you like the best? The goats were cute, but I still like little pigs as long as I don't ever have to chase one again.

Oh how cute. Goats are so cute. Didn't realize they would actually eat clothing or a tablecloth.
I was 13 before I ever saw a farm animal. We visited a relative's farm in Illinois. It was an exciting experience. Was the last time I saw farm animals. I was born and raised in the city where we don't have any farm animals. We do see deer around the state but not in our immediate area. So many people think that people who live in Missouri live on a farm. There's not a farm around here with animals for miles and miles.

I have never been to a state fair. My husband is not interested and I wouldn't want to go alone. We did go to a state fair in Illinois about 40 years ago. We went basically to see the car races. Well maybe a sno-cone or cotton candy too.

Yeah, funny the misconceptions people have about states. It's like one thing defines the entire state. When I say NY State, everyone thinks NY City. We have tribal territories, farming regions, small cities, but all they think of is a huge megolopolis. Fact is, I've never been to NYC. Been to Niagra Falls, Buffalo, Albany, Troy as well as Akwesasne where the Mohawks are and I lived where the Tuscarrora are. I like in the rural northern part of the state. Think farms, suburb, small city, and wind mills. No amount of talking to people gets them to get it either.
Haven't seen a farm animal since the age of 13, what a bummer! You don't go to your state fair? Or even a county one? That's too bad, lots of neat stuff at those.
Yes, the little Nubian minature goats were cute as could be. You're right, they are cute. The male was charcoal with little scattered gray hairs. The female was a nice fawn brown. Adorable, but in trouble all the time unless you keep them in their pen. They didn't seem to like their pen, they wanted people and to be petted. But you can't let them eat people's clothes and run off with table clothes.

So you've never seen the arts and crafts booths, the competitions, the ribbons awarded, the displays for arts/crafts and baking? Some crafters get their start at the local (county) arts/crafts part of the fair and then the best go to the state. There are also plant displays and so on.
My Dad wasn't into what my Mom was into, so she got a friend her age with similar interests to hang out with until I got older. We went to craft fairs, townwide garage sales, and definitely the fairs. VT state fair has a huge fine arts area and a really tramendous arts and crafts area. All kinds of arts and crafts are displayed and compete.

This picnic sounds like it was really fun! And with so many farm animals nearby, too. They are so interesting to watch. I guess I last saw farm animals on a driving trip we took weekend before last. There were cows, horses, and goats in fences along the highway.
I like horses, they are such majestic animals. I rarely have the opportunity to get close to them, though. And I know very, very little about them. Still, horses are lovely.

Reminds me of the time, my Mom, Dad, and I were riding down the street next to the Miner Farm, a farm for education left by the rich Miner family. There were sheep, Dad pulled over to the side of the road. He opened his window and made a noise like a sheep. "Baaaaa" There was a part of the fense that had sunk into the earth so it was low, the sheep starting jumping over it. My Mother started yelling at my Dad, "You fool!", so he drove off and let someone know the sheep were out.
The person who responded above know a lot about horses. I only know that shetland ponies, at least the one I had, are hateful and I'd never have another one.

Maybe adult regular-sized horses are OK, but the shetland pony I had as a kid was terrible. Most horses I've met, really don't care that much for people. It's hard for me to love something that could care less if I exist. Maybe you have had different experiences that you could relate to me.
Yes, goats are kind of cute, but destructive and tricky little varments. They were even eating raspberry bushes, despite the thorns. They'd be in a pen at my house, that's for sure.

Ponies are too smart for their own good. I will say that horses and ponies will pay more attention to you if you bribe them with treats. A horse and a dog are about equally smart, but a horse doesn't look to you for praise unless you control something they want.
I have to say that horses, like children, like to know the rules and will love you if you give them the rules - I did some rounds on misbehaving horses and they loved me after that - go figure.
I guess, like a cat, they love you if you prove to them that you deserve it.

I guess they are half like a dog and half like a cat. Dog because it takes a lot to take care of them and cat because of the things you said. Thanks and take care
