A Car Problem

Hi All,
I was driving to office this morning when suddenly I smelt something burning and smokes coming through my air-cond compartment. I was very scared that I stopped the car at the roadside. I waited for 15 minutes before I started the car again. As I don't know anything about cars, I drove slowly to my office with extra careful - without switching on the air-conditioner, both front windows winded down, no seat belt and unlocked the car. I was afraid that something will spark a fire and better get ready if anything should happen! What do you think is the cause of the smell and why smokes coming out from the air-conditioner compartment? Help me, please!

I have never had this problem before. As I have never seen it. Or even heard of it. But I guess anything is possible. You should not drive it anymore and you shouldn't of drove it to the office. Leave the car alone and get it into a shop. Use a towtruck as well to get it there. Get it in as soon as possible and ask them what is up with the car.
Another thing if you don't know anything about cars you shouldn't push them to it's limit. If you don't know the basics you shouldn't drive at all. You could do more damage than what its worth.

Hello nicholejade,
I have no choice as I was late to office this morning. I talked to my brother when I reached my office and he told me it might be due to the air-conditioner itself. I didn't switch it on after the incident and right after my office hour today, I will drive the car to the nearest workshop and let them check the problem.

You always have choice no matter what situation you are in. Anyway if it smells like rubber. It might be a belt. The fan or the altenator belt.

if it smells like rubber then check on your clutch. also check on your oil.but the best thing is to bring to a mechanic if you do not know.

Hello tigerdragon,
That is the first thing I need to do this evening. I hope the workshop will still open so that I can go and check the problem. My brother told me it might be caused by the air conditioner itself. I don't know as I didn't even switch it on after it happened this morning. I just feel so scared of it. Anyway, thanks for your help.

Oh my... i also do not know anything about cars... and if something like that happens... my family mechanic... who is a very good friend of my father is just a cell phone call away... you are very brave to drive your car despite of what happened... if it was me... i will immediately call the mechanic to take a look at the problem...
I hope your car is fixed now...
