Check your Internet speed

This is believed to be authentic. I got this from a customer service representative of one of my previous Internet service providers, who is now no longer in my life. http://us.mcafee.com/root/speedometer/default.asp I checked my Internet speed today because it took me ages to attach a simple file and learned that my Internet speed is only 20 kbps. No wonder I am going mad slowly!! Don't be surprised if I suddenly disappear from Mylot. Cheers and happy mylotting

i compared my results: internetfrog: upload 30kbps download 119 kbps speedtest.com: upload 92 kbps download 129 kbps mcafee.com: 100 kbps i think internetfrog test is more accurate because the same value of 30kbps is what i'm getting in my vuze p2p downloads..

My internet speed registered at 200kbps and I believe it is one of the common speeds around. My service provider would upgrade the speed every 1-2 years for a nominal fee, as it is an auto upgrade, I cannot reject their decision.

An auto upgrade! Wow, that sounds great! Now why doesn't my Internet Service Provider get such bright ideas? :( Cheers and thanks for the response.

Hihi, That would be your uploading speed which is quite likely lower than your downloading speed - which should be the one you look at. Most of the surfing we do is downloading - we are taking information... not giving information - like your attaching of text file. But 20kbps is indeed a bit on the low side unless you are using a dialup connection. That said, a lot depends on the geographical location of the site you visit as well. If the site you visit is hosted near where your ISP has servers, well, good for you! You would go faster. :) I checked out the site you mentioned... I regret to report that I can't do the test because the site just hanged there for me lol. Slow connection to that site. Mcafee is a bad boy, almost always.

Yup Mcafee is a bad boy. Spoiledbrat (on the first page) have given the link to another website, which is much better than the one I provided. According to it, my uploading speed is 40 kbps. Still slow, but better than 20 kbps. Cheers and thanks for the response. :)

Thanks! That's a really handy link. My speed is okay - my problem is the connection keeps dropping out. It's annoying, but I can live with it. I'd go nuts with your speed, Positive!

I am going nuts. :( But I live in a sort of primitive locality where broadband is not available. I am surprised we don't rub stones for fire here. Cheers and thanks for your response

LOL! I know the problem. We can't use a lot of services because we have high voltage wires nearby. They interfere with radio waves, digital tv and unwired broadband. It's frustrating.
