Hi everyone! I'll bet you all think I'm a right moaner - am actually quite a happy person, honest!!! But today I have given myself the day off work as I feel a bit poorly and down in the dumps. I've spent the day pampering myself, painted my nails, conditioning my hair etc and have eaten all the foods I wouldn't normally allow myself!! I feel all bloated but a lot more content now! What do you guys do when you're feeling low to make yourself feel better? xx

Poor you. There's nothing worse than feeling down in the dumps. Bit late in the day now but:
1. Lie in
2. Make "comfort" breakfast
3. Don't dress before 10.30
4. Long hot bath or shower
5. Girly pampering (I don't do too much of that!)
6. Light lunch. Soup and fruit
7. Afternoon weepy film. Preferably in B&W. Accompanied by favourite Chocolates or snacks snuggled under duvet downstairs for purpose.
8. Watch children's TV. Recapture childhood
9. Light supper
10. Soaps
11. 1 hour on myLot
12. Bed by 10.30 followed by a lovely long sleep
Works for me.

I wish I had a personal slave, but unfortunately due to my cat not having opposable thumbs I am sadly lacking in that department! Lavender will be going in my bath tonight, that's for sure!! :-) xxx

haha, lol, ok i am going to attempt this one in theory, sorry but with my illness i am always in a state of depression, and doing things doesn't effect it.
However, that being said, being outside, moving around is always good, keeps the oxygen to the brain, and the blood moving which will help to increase mood. Definately doing things that you have an interest in. I know that if i am going downhill, i will go do some photography, and it usually evens the level i am at out. Work on a problem you may be having, remember to think of the solution, not the problem, making progress or fixing an issue or problem you have been having is always a good way to cheer yourself up, makes you feel like you have accomplished something and it is one less thing to worry about.

that's gotta take some pretty good skill to make yourself a dress, how long have you been doing that sort of thing? That's pretty cool, and definately a useful skill.

I've always been able to sew and things but since i became a student the second time round money has been a bit tight so i decided that rather than buy new dresses to go out in at the weekends i'd make them! it saves money and there's no danger of bumping into someone wearing the same dress as you! lol It's not as skilfull as it sounds, like anything i guess, only easy when you know how!! xxx

Oh dear, it sounds as though you're not very happy at the moment, i hope you make some progress and start to feel better soon! I think being outside and exercising is always a good idea and fixing things is great because like you say it gives you a sense of achievement! I made myself a new dress today so i feel as though the whole day was not wasted, have at least done something productive!! hehe thanks for responding! xxx

I don't do classic "cheering myself up" stuff when I'm feeling down, because that just doesn't work for me - comedies fall flat, and cheerful music makes me want to blow my brains out. And no way am I fit for company. So I tend to get the personal stereo out and lie in bed listening to Front 242. Those guys know all about misery, despair and struggle. For some reason that helps me get back into a normal frame of mind again.

Hey munch! That a girl! I do just about everything you did!
Especially the eating thing! I'm sorry your still feeling
down, unfortunately so am I. Just can't seem to snap out
of it. Things just keep happening to make it worse. That's
just it. Like I told you, life happens! I'm going to type
here for awhile then I will watch General Hospital and do
my nails while it's on since I need to sit still and not
touch anything. Hopefully you will be feeling better soon.
Just keep doing things for yourself that makes you happy.
I wish I could give you more tips, but I can't even cheer
myself up right now either. Keep smiling!

My husband is very supportive and understanding. Whenever I feel home sick or just thought of something that makes me feel like crying, he's there to comfort me and assuring everything will be alright. He's good at that.

I like music to lift my mood its the best remedy for me. Good music fills me with energy and enthusiasm.
I also recharge myself by visiting parks, gardens or reading some good material online or offline.

When I am not in mood,I will get myself some rewards. I will go shopping to hunt for something which I like to encourage myself to be happy again. Sometimes even a small little gift will do and enough to make me cheer up again. Besides shopping,I will also eat something which I don't normally eat. Maybe I will buy snacks which I never try before and eat them while watching movies. Of course I will try to find some comedies, lol.

when im down i usually get something to drink and listen to music. it relaxes me, and gets my mind off of things. i also sometimes go out with buddies and get drinks with them. but usually i just like to be alone and do my own thing. like you said, girls pamper themselves, i just drink a little and then chill with music.

Sounds like a good plan! Wish I had the money to go shopping - that would be lovely but am not sure I could stand up for that long, feel all poorly - got my sunglasses on inside! hehe I have compromised and made myself a new dress with some fabric I had lying around! I feel a bit better for it though! Thanks for taking the time to respond! happy mylotting! xxx

When I am feeling low I got out of the house. I go to the malls and look around. If I see something that makes me feel light, I will get it. Or sometimes I listen to upbeat music because it makes me dance. Then sometimes I talk to somebody, especially to my husband.

I do same as you. I also like to read a book to take my mind of things. I like to watch a film or a funny DVD like Bewitched or Spongebob Squarepants. I like to watch pop videos as well. I also make cards which I sell. I like to chat online and look at pictures and videos of my favourite celebrities.

To cheer my self up,I listen to light music. I have noticed that it work wonders sometimes. It helps me to a great extent to distract me from the topic that is troubling me.

Music can be really helpful I agree! I am a really big fan on the band Stone Sour and find the sound of Corey Taylor's voice on their slower tracks really soothing! Thanks for the response, I hope you don't need distracting from your problems too often though!! xx
