OUCH! Three kidney stones!

I had something to happen to me last week that in my 54 years had not ever happened before. I cleaned our guest bathtub and when I got up my back had wrenching pain. I thought I had pulled a muscle then when I went to the bathroom OUCH! It wasn't a pulled muscle. I thought wow this is one of the worse urinary tract infections I have ever had! It kept getting worse all thru Tuesday and I finally saw something in the toilet bigger then a bb! Whew! But that wasn't all of it. After more excruciating pain I passed another one that was like crystal and sharp edges and about the size of the flat part of as straight pin. Then I managed to teach my Wednesday night children's class at church and by Thursday I decided I better see if this other one was stuck! I went to the doctor, first time I had been to the doctor in over 10 years! They did a CT scan and sure enough it was there but wasn't abstructing anything. I came home and started hurting even more. I decided I was taking matters in my own hands. I got on the internet and started searching for way to break up these kidney stones. I finally found one that seemed ok. I drank coke cola for 2 hours and then ate pureed asparagus and followed all that by water to flush all this out. After all that was done in 2-1/2 hours, tiny granules of sand passed! Praise the Lord! The stone had been broken up and passed. I did end up with a bad urinary tract infection but the stone was gone! This is one of the worse hurts that you can suffer with. But I didn't take any pain meds or ibuprofen or tylenol. My daughter say I am a tough ole bird LOL I just don't take that stuff but I won't say it didn't hurt! It did!!!! Thanks for reading! God bless you!

I don't think I am so tough but I just don't like what medicines make me feel like so I try to stay away from them as much as possible. Yes, I am proud they are gone also. Thanks for posting. God bless you!

I know how you feel I only take advil and then only if I just can't take it anymore. I don't like taking meds and I am not on any prescription meds except my inhaler and I only use it rarely.

Gosh... you become your own specialist. I thought it is only the medical people that can remove those kidney stones. I had experienced it once and was hospitalized for a week to get it removed and you did it all by yourself. This is miracle! What you did was drink coke cola and ate pureed asparagus and drunk lots of water to break the stone in your kidney, right. If that works I would take note of it. I fear I might have accumulated stones again in my kidney. I heard it will come back if we don't drink enough water everyday.

I never well so far, had kidney stones. But my son did. He had called me at 2:00 am in the morning and said that he was in so much pain that we was almost to pass out. He did not no what was wrong with him. My hubby and I drove to his house to take him to the hospital cause he was in to much pain to drive. His two children were in bed sleeping. My husband took him to the hosptial and I stayed and watched the kids. It was almost 5am when they came back. Well he had kidney stones the ER dr. put a IV in his arm and ran a bunch of liquids in him and send him home. He did pass them the next day he had three of them. I hope I never get them.

My mom has kidney stones all the time and now she has a large bouder type of stone in her right kidney and needs surgery to have it removed but because she just had a stroke and just found out she has blood clots in her lungs, she can't have the surgery or she'd die during the procedure. Maybe in 6 months she'll be able to have it but for now she has to have stints put in both kidneys which is very uncomfortable and then she has to have them replaced every 3 months. She's not too happy about that.

Ow! That is about all I can think of to say is ow! I have heard passing kidney stones are extremely painful! I wonder what causes them? In extreme cases I know people have had to go to the hospital to get them removed, and that isn't any less painful that passing them in your own home. Smart of you to look for a better way of getting rid of them. I don't know if I could have eaten the asparagus pureed. You are tough!

I haven't been to a doctor for years, either, and hope to go longer without seeing one! I've heard that kidney stones hurt worse than birth, I'm very glad it was relatively easy for you.

Oh no! I've not experienced kidney stones myself, thank God, but I know people that have and they agree that it is the most painful experience you will ever go through. I'm glad that yours are now gone and hopefully you can figure out what is in your diet that is causing them to accumulate, and you can be more diligent about it in the future.

Wow, you are tough!!! I've never had kidney stones, but I did loose my gall bladder. I've heard people compare the pain to child birth...not sure I would go that far but it is definitely HUGE pain! I developed gall bladder problems after my first daughter was born. I didn't know what it was and apparently did not describe the pain well enough, my doctor changed my birth control pills. Obviously, that did nothing!! lol Four years later, my mom-in-law, drags me to emergency where they tell me its my gall bladder. By the time I had it removed it was completely calcified and becoming one with my liver! Live and learn I guess. lol Oh, and I took evey pain med they offered--I am a complete wimp. lol
