Do you write a reaction paper after reading a novel even if it's not necessary?

I've just finished reading another book... the novel entitled "Slow Waltz in Cedar Bend" which is about a strict disciplinarian professor who fell in love with a married woman. Interesting, isn't it? And now I want to write a reaction paper about it and I would write a summary pertaining to the whole story too.
Do you read novels and then also write reaction paper and summarize it too like what I do?

I do sometimes write a little something about the novel when I finish reading it even though I am out of college. I got into the habit of writing my thoughts about what I read because of what I learned in college. We had to keep journals about our reading assignments and I guess it just stuck.

before, most of the time, right after I read a novel or any book, i blog it. meaning i write a sort of reaction paper. it's nice to do that especially if the book is nice or there were some scenes that i really reacted hehehe.. anyway, i love reading novels and assessing it afterwards.

No. I guess doing so in school, I felt analyzing it too much took the soul out. However, I think it would be great to have a reading circle or group and discuss it afterwards.

no. but I think these are regular exercises in creative writing classes so if you feel you want to go ahead.
This will sharpen what my high school teacher referred to as "your critical eye"
