well, not in a bad way that she already forgets here responsibilities as a mom but almost everyday now, she plays every single moment that she's not doing anything. she even stayed up until 2 am one time just playing the game! now you have to know this about my mom. among her office mates, she's the one who works the hardest (she works in a local government unit). you know how these government people are lazy? well, it's true. i have been countless times to her office and saw that she was the only one that was actually working her butt off! anyways, she doesn't seem to mind because she really is a hard worker, plus, her bosses recognize her efforts for all its worth. so what's my point in saying that? my mom is not the person who would EVER get addicted to a game, well, at least until she tried playing Zuma. she's the strict type, the one who my cousins are afraid of (they call her the dragon lady, in fact), the one who most people have reservations about joking around with. all i'm trying to say is that ever since she started playing the game, we all saw a different side of her that we didn't know existed. she seems more human now, somehow (hee hee. sorry mom!). more human in the sense that she is not the uptight, highly-disciplined person who looks down on anyone who dares to get addicted to games. anyways, i can say that this one addiction has been good for all of us. i don't know any other addiction who brings positive results to others. now there's a first :)

Hehehe My mom shares the same thing with your mom, I guess.. She's also somewhat like that on the surface. Hardworking and serious.. I think I haven't even told her a joke even once (^0^ ) Though, Zuma is just among the video games that got her attention.. first one was when I set up the FamiCom and tried to play games. I introduced Doctor Mario to her and the rest just followed. To think that my mom was able to wreck the controller due to so much playing of the game. Tetris was also familiar to her and long hours would indeed come by, of course, during her free time. I even tried to convince her to try out games like that on a GameBoy but, she preferred the big screens (^0^ ) I could even notice that she'd do everything that she can so that she won't have to do anything else to worry about and just play those video games.. those puzzle time games that even on the PC when we finally got one. It was impressive that I can't beat her score at all. Her quick eyes for those games. Luxor was the last game that I got installed for my mom to play but, then the monitor gave way and she ceased playing such games and instead played games that were the same but, this time, online on my father's laptop. Of course, whenever she senses us roaming around or just close by and watching how she plays, she'd routinely asks us if we need to use the computer and immediately stand from her seat.

I don't know anything about Zuma, but I do like the fact that you say it is the only addiction that you know of that is a good thing. It sounds as though your mom has found something to make her happier and a lot more relaxed. I find that here and I enjoy this site because of that.

It seems like a nice thing for the family and hopefully she is not playing alone (tho I have to confess I do not know what Zuma is) and that this game makes you closer as a family :)

i don't think it matters. my mom play games too, but not that addictive. as long as it doesn't affect her health. and as times goes by, she will cut down the time on it herself.

my parents play Zuma too. My mum is the top scorer and my dad likes it even though his color blind. After stage 7 he has some problems with the colors. Right now my dad is playing 18 wheels of Steel and my mum has switched back to spider solitaire, and I'm glad I have my own laptop to play with because on weekends, both of them are taking turns to play the com. =)
