I'm Watching Barack Obama Speak to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Barack Obama makes so much sense that I find it difficult to understand why anyone would question his ability to lead our nations. He has receive numerous applauses from this group. They know he's making sense. Why should the American people spend another penney when Iraq is sitting on 79 billion dollars worth of windfall oil profits? We have acheived our goal in Iraq and now it's time for the people of Iraq to step up to the plate. We must now finish the mission we started in Afghanistan. Just today 9 French soldiers were killed in heated fighting. 6 suicide bombers attempted to invade an American camp in Afghanistan. I am so glad Barack Obama addressed the Veterans of Foreign Wars. They know more than anyone that George Bush and John McCain don't understand the trials and tribulations that our soldiers and Veterans face on a daily basis. Thank you Senator Obama for discussing the issues and not going negative towards John McCain. Lloyd

I saw part of that address and I sat there thinking that it is such a simple idea. Why do others have to make things so complicated. I have wondered for a long time when Iraq would start to stand alone. As long as we are there holding their hands, they won't. They have the ability now to become self-sufficient with maybe a little help from international peacekeepers. They need to get off their collective butts and start doing for themselves. I appreciate Obama's clear, well thought out ideas.

Didn't his address just make common sense? It's what's called the "common sense approach". They try to smear him and speak of his inexperience, but all the experience of Bush, Cheney and McCain has gotten us to the point where we are today. Just a bunch of failed military and economic policies. I know the truth hurts, but no one can deny the facts. Lloyd

Oh yeah. I am interested in a documentary that is coming out soon called I.O.U.S.A which is an independent study of how and why we are in such debt and what will happen if we and our elected officials don't wake up.

Isn't it a hoot to hear the soundbites from before the invasion about how their oil revenues would pay for the rebuilding and how our gas would be real cheap? Here we are, years later - them with a near $80 billion surplus, us with a record-breaking deficit and gas prices through the roof! Above you wrote about "facts" and "common sense"; neither of those are included in G-O-P! Annie

I have to agree on everything. If Iraq can support themself then they should. It's also time we do something about Afghanistan, the fighting there has gone on way to long. This is going off topic but your discussion lead me to questions and I know that you are a big supporter of Obama and you have vast knowledge on these issues. Do you think that the way that Kerry and Obama have choosen to lead the good path during the elections is a good thing? I hate the mud slinging as much as the next person if not more being in one of the swing states it's pretty much ruining television currently? There is so much bad stuff on McCain way beyond the flip flopping opps I mean changing his mind. The Keating 5, he "forgot" to claim gifts on his taxes, I could list more but I'm sure I give you an idea for my point. I didn't know these bad things about McCain until I started researching them, how many more voters are unaware of these actions? Most think he is untouchable because he was a POW and in some people's eyes it is almost as if he were a saint of some sort. Please don't get me wrong I do love the side of Obama not slinging but it leads me to wonder if the "bad" stuff not coming out hurts the honest one here.

lloyd, we can not please everybody, but we know in our hearts that Barack Obama will win this election, just think about this, most people in this world hated the war on iraq and those who oppose in him are just a fraction of the people who love change. in the end, we will rejoice in our sucess into the white house. could you do me a favor? please let me know who barack chooses to be his vice president.

I really want Barack Obama to win this election. Not only do most people throughout the world disagree with the war in Iraq, the majority of American disagree with it. I hope and pray that we will be able to rejoice in a Barack Obama victory. You and all my friends here at myLot will be the first to know when I get that email or text message. Stay tuned. Lloyd

I can't understand why you would think that Senator McCain wouldn't know the trials and tribulations that the soldiers go through every day and Obama would know. Have you forgotten that McCain was a prisoner of war for many years. He was put through lots of agony along with other POW's. Obama has never been to war, so how could he outshine McCain in this area? There will always be wars. And, if we don't fight them on other shores, you'll find them coming to the USA.

This is why I believe John McCain is out of touch with the needs of our troops and our veterans. Here are a few reasons: May 2006: McCain voted against an amendment that would provide $20 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for health care facilities. April 2006: McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote against $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans. March 2006: McCain voted against increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes. April 2003: McCain urged other Senate members to table a vote (which never passed) to provide more than $1 billion for National Guard and Reserve equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests. (I remember when some wifes of soldiers raising to get some of this equipment) So there it is. John McCain is yet another republican former military veteran who likes to talk a big game when it comes to having the support of the military. Yet, time and time again, he has gone out of his way to vote against the needs of those who are serving in our military. If he can’t even see his way to actually doing what the troops want, or what the veterans need, and he doesn’t have the support of veterans, then how can he be a credible commander in chief? Lloyd p.s. These are facts. I'll glady point you to the sources of this information.

You hardly ever hear the details as why a Senator, especially a Republican, doesn't vote for a certain bill. And, it usually has lots of pork attached - it's not truly a bill for what it is supposed to be. I found this in a statement released on July 25, 2007 to the Congressional Record by McCain: “Mr. President, today the Senate adopted, by unanimous consent, legislation that will make a significant difference in the lives of America's wounded warriors and veterans. I applaud the passage of the "Dignified Treatment of Wounded Warriors Act" and the 3.5 percent across the board pay raise for the men and women of the U. S. military." I don't find where he cares nothing for our soldiers. That says unanimous, which means every senator voted YEA.

Hello Barb. I apologize if I gave the impression that John McCain cares nothing about our soldiers. I said "he doesn't understand the trials and tribulations that our soldiers and Veterans face on a daily basis". John McCain has a office in Washington DC. Why did it take soldiers and family members to expose the terrible conditions at Walter Reed hospital? There are allegations from a former inspector at Walter Reed of widespread and dangerous problems in nearly all the buildings at the Walter Reed hospital. Burst steam pipes near electrical cables, rats, mold, and holes in floors and walls -- all of that extends far beyond the well-publicized problems at the notorious Building 18. You may have seen this story on the news. John McCain and George Bush should be held accountable for this discrace. Soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s Medical Hold Unit say they have been told they will wake up at 6 a.m. every morning and have their rooms ready for inspection at 7 a.m., and that they must not speak to the media. “Some soldiers believe this is a form of punishment for the trouble soldiers caused by talking to the media,” one Medical Hold Unit soldier said, speaking on the condition of anonymity. It is unusual for soldiers to have daily inspections after Basic Training. George Bush sent these soldiers to war with John McCain's blessings. They should have at least take care of them when they return from the battlefield. That is why I say that John McCain doesn't understand the trials and tribulations that our soldiers and Veterans face on a daily basis. Lloyd

Do you believe that Barack Obama may be the Antichrist because he has risen up out of no where, he mesmerizes crowds, people are gathering in huge numbers and he is likely becoming the next President of the United States? If you study the vision in Revelation 13 in connection with Daniel 7, you will see that the vision of Revelation 13 is based on that of Daniel 7, and that the beast of Revelation 13 is the beast of Daniel 7. John's beast from the sea is a combination of the leopard, bear, lion, and indescribable fourth beast of Daniel 7, whose ten horns give rise to one horn that speaks great, boastful things, and makes war with the saints and prevails! It sounds to me that George Bush is the real "antichrist". You won't get murdered by me or any Barack Obama supporters for your belief. I disagree with you, but you have your right to your opinion. Thanks for your reply. Lloyd
