Batman: Did You See A Difference?

I recently saw the new Batman movie "The Dark Knight" the other night. Did anyone see a difference in the feel of this movie as opposed to the others? It seemed to me to be much darker in mood and much less "campy" than any of the others. The dialogue was even geared more to the adult mind. Am I the only one who saw it that way?

We noticed that also. My husband said the new movies are more like what the comic book was. The older ones are more like the old cartoons I guess. I never read the comic books so I don't really know.

Thanks for responding sunnflr. I wonder what caused the difference. Could it have been the story writer or the director? Sometimes I wonder what criteria they use to decide how that character is going to be played.

They really changed him, that's for sure.

I don't know if they had a new director this time or not. Sometimes that does make a difference. Then there are more "dark" movies out it seems so they were probably just going with the flow.

I think Chris Nolan is the best director to have tackled the Batman films yet. I enjoyed Batman Begins but even that didn't compare to The Dark Knight. I think the great thing is that he's made is so realistic and moved away from how everyone else always does Batman - almost like a cartoon, with all bright colours and stuff.

I think I like this one best of all because it appealed more to the adult side of me rather than the kid in me. Although, like any kid, it broke my heart when I saw that wonderful car break up in a crash. Thanks for the response, bunzor.

I haven't seen it but I have heard that it is pretty dark.

Thanks for the response dani27. When you do see it, tell me what you think. He may have done this in the other Batman movie, but I don't remember Christian Bale diguising his voice so emphatically like he does in this movie.
