Many of us here on mylot are parents and some others are parents to be, so I feel that these hints will be useful for us when packing lunchboxes for our kids. 1. Breads and cereals. This group provides glucose for energy and is generally a good source of B vitamins. Carbohydrate rich foods, like sandwiches, rolls, muffins, crackers and cereal bars, should form the bulk of a child’s diet. 2. Fruit and vegetables: brightly colored fruit and vegetables are rich in vitamin A, whilst citrus fruits and green leafy vegetables contain high level of vitamin C. 3. Meat, fish, chicken, egg, nuts and dried beans: This group is an important source of protein and provides children with B vitamins and iron. 4. Calcium rich foods: Dairy products such as milk, cheese and yoghurt are high in protein vitamins, vitamin D and calcium.

My children get two slices of brown bread with a very good filling in the sandwiches. Ham, cheese, egg, I try to put some salad in the sandwiches as well if i can. Three pieces of friut of there choice and a treat, mondays is crisp day, tuesday chessestring day, wednesday, choccy biscuit day, thursday they always have egg and cress sandwiches. fridays they have sauasge rols. They do have a smal piece of cake or biscuit as well, but not on mondays. The children help in the morning to pack there own lunch boxes. It is very good to give healthy lunch boxes and to give your child five a day.
