Now I do not like ripe tomatoes, but I do like Fried Green Tomatoes. I am going to grab a few nice big green ones out of the garden for dinner and fry up some Fried Green Tomatoes. We have so many tomatoes out there if I let them all ripen I will be over run with them. I also thought about doing some pork steaks and corn on the cob to go with it. Do you like Fried Green Tomatoes? How do you make yours? What do you think goes well with Fried Green Tomatoes?

I love fried green tomatoes but I can't eat many because I am diabetic. I was raised in Alabama and we had a cafe. We had fried green tomatoes on the menu and people from up north used to stop in to eat and the first thing they would ask was about the fried green tomatoes. Needless to say we only served them when tomatoes were in season. Our tomatoes were battered in a little flour mixed with corn meal then fried to a golden brown. They taste good with any pork or beef entre'. That was the good "old" days.

Diabetics can't eat tomatoes? I never knew that. I might try the cornmeal flour mix tonight.

I don't like tomatoes at all, but I've planted several tomato plants for my husband. A few of them fell over after a big rain/wind storm a while back, and as I was trying to push them back up and fix the stakes, two big green tomatoes fell off. My husband breaded and fried them and said they were awesome. I know he stunk up the house doing it, LOL.

The first time I tried them was when my daughter plucked 2 green ones off the vine. I decided to try making them and they turned out good. And I HATE tomatoes.

I've never made fried green tomatoes and I think I've only tried them once. I should try making a batch...I usually get a bunch of green tomatoes from the neighbors.

I ate way too many of them last night when I made them. I pretty much have to make fried green tomatoes or I will be overrun with ripe tomatoes.

I love them as well. Put them in corn meal and fry them up. I'd never tried them before a friend here told me about them. Now I love them!

Ohhh I LOVE fried green tomatoes!! When I make them I just roll them in regular cornmeal mix or I use the Jiffy brand cornmeal mix then just fry them in a skillet. They are great with any kind of pork dish, or just by themselves..

I have never tried them with cornmeal mix. I just dunk mine in milk and then coat them in a combo of flour, salt, pepper, and paprika then pan fry them.

I do like fried green tomatoes-so does my whole family. I used to fry them in yellow corn meal, and then I changed over to flour. My son told me that he liked it better that way.

Someone below you suggested a cornmeal flour combo. I think I am going to try them that way tonight.

Anything goes good with fried green tomatoes, or just by them selves. I have 3 tomato bushes and one is a roma tomato vine, it's tomatoes are getting ripe, but my regular tomato bushes are loaded with tomatoes but still green, I can help it but as soon as the green tomatoes get big, I go pull them off and fry them. I dearly love them, and I seen a woman giving another one a recipe for fried green tomato cake, she said it sounded horrible but made it and she said it is really good. I have fried green tomatoes, fried chicken and usually corn on the cob or some other vegetable, but I'm sure if you like them they would go good with just about anything.

Sounds yummy. I have never actually tried fried green tomatoes. So for the first time, I'd like to try them by themselves. THen I would decide what they may go well with.

My mother used to make fried green tomatoes and yes, I liked them. Not so much that I would go out of my way to get green tomatoes and fry them up.. but I certainly understand the logic of eating some green ones fried in order to avoid being overrun with ripe ones later. :)

Honestly I've been eating tomatoes but ripe ones only and this is the first time I've known that green tomatoes could be fried. Thank you for this tip, I will definitely try this one as soon as I go home tonight. I believe it tastes great otherwise you will not post it here. Thanks a lot for this wonderful tip.

They do not taste like tomatoes to me. They are firmer and more acidic. A totally different flavor.

I only like raw tomatoes. I like both green and red tomatoes. Although some one say that green tomatoes are not good to our health, I don't take it serious and I would like to have it. I admire you that you can grow tomatoes yourself. I have to buy it from the market which are not as tasty as they should.

OMG, I loe those. I haven't had them since I was a kid. I have been having major cravings for them. I can't find any true green tomatoes in San Diego. It's driving me nuts. Oh Man, greem tomatoes fried in a cast iron skillet after being covered in cornmeal. OMG! Now I want them more.

My family loves fried green tomatoes! We just batter them with flour, salt, and pepper and fry them in some grease. They go good with anything or by themselves at lunch time. I really like them with ranch dressing too. I have eaten these for a long time and I love them! Pork steaks, corn on the cob, and green tomatoes sounds yummy!!

Tomato is my favoriate fruit or vegetable. Anyway, I like it. It is versatile I prefer ripe tomatoes to green ones, however.
