I went to one of the electronic company here in Kuwait "Alghanim Electronics" and see a Dishwasher Machine for I really wish to have one on my kitchen because I got tried on washing it by hand and wait for a while then wipe it a dry clothes before I have to put and arrange it in the cabinet. Now, I wanted to know for those are using a dishwasher on what are advantage of using the machine or are still comfortable on washing your dishes by your bare hands......??????????//////

Hello iyah10, I don't have a dish washer at home and I don't really need it right now. I prefer to wash by hand as I feel it is cleaner and I don't have to do it too often. I only cook once a day especially during weekdays as my husband and I are working during day time and we don't eat at home. As for all the dirty kitchenwares, I still can cope washing them manually. Maybe if it is necessary for you, you should go and look for one. You can save time spending on washing the dishes too *smiles* May you get what you are looking for ...

I don't use a dishwasher and I guess I can't afford one either. I only wash the dishes by hand. I also think it's much cleaner to do so by hand than by a machine. Just my point of view though.

I have never had a dishwasher and I do dishes by hand for anywhere from 7 to 10 people at supper, 5 for lunch and breakfast. The only time I really hate it is Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas .. then it is for about 25 people!

I don;t have a dishwasher and I wash all the dishes by hand. It very tiresome sometimes specially if they are plenty and that includes the pots and pans. I think dishwasher could save time. And it is easier too we don't need to spend more time cleaning, arranging, drying and everything.

We have a dishwasher. My poor mother always did dishes by hand and I never wanted my wife or I to do so. When we first got married our condo had a dishwasher and every place we have ever lived in had one. Doing dishes by hand sucks and takes too long to do.

much to my daughters' chagrin, we dont have a dish washer (except them!) and they HATE doing the dishes and it takes them forever to do them, but i want them to learn that they need to help around the house and this is their chore that they have to do.

i wash mine by hand but not by choice-the machine broke down some time ago and i can't afford to replace it yet.i suppose it's just as well though,it saves on water. it's not so bad as long as it's kept up on.

Hello iyah10, No, we don't have dishwasher so we are stickin to the old and tested method of using your hand to do dishwashing. Dishwasher is not yet common here in our country because it is still cheaper to wash dishes using the traditional way. I have not seen any houses here with dishwasher. Maybe in classy condominium or apartment the dishwasher is available. I think washing with hand is better because you can remove stain and oily part on the dishes. I think the disshwasher can't remove this kind of dirt and you still need people to do it. For ordinary stuff the dishwasher is ok. I think it has some heater to heat up the water for washing so it will be costly in electricity. It maybe convenient but I think it is not economical. Have a great day.

We don't have a dishwasher. There is somewhere to hook one up, we just don't have one. I think that it's better to hand wash dishes if you can, only because it seems to me that dishes washed in a dishwasher don't get as clean as hand washing them.

i prefer to use the machine...to give me more time to do other stuff. i have too much stuff i need to do, and need to manage my time better to get more stuff done. usually let it rinse in the sink and then fill the dishwasher. when the dishwasher is full, then i wash. if i have 1 or 2 dishes in sink, then i just do it by hand...but usually i have more...

We have had a dishwasher for the last 10 years if not more. It is so much more convienent but isn't really water efficient! You only need to do one load a day if not less depending on how many dishes you actually use in one day. On Sundays, when we have our big family dinners the dishwasher is usually packed and not everything will fit so we wash whatever is remaining by hand. I still know how to do it and don't mind doing it when I have to but the dishwasher is so much more convienent. When you are done with a dish, instead of either washing it right away or piling it up for more dishes to wash together, you stack it in the dishwasher and run it at the end of the day. In the morning, the dishes are clean and dry and all you have to do is put them away! I couldn't live without a dishwasher at home. I already have to do without at the cottage and i feel like I'm wasting precious time by having to wash the dishes 3 times a day. If you have the money and can do it, I suggest getting one. You'll soon start to ask yourself how you ever did without.

Well, we've never cleaned our dishwasher. It basically cleans itself each time you run it with dishes in it as the water sprays all over the place and then releases the soap. It really doesn't get dirty inside.

I still do feel comfortable washing dishes by hands. Although dishwasher promise a convenient way to do your dirty plates. But in asia, its not as popular since most of our foods tend to be greasy.

We have a dishwasher and I really like it. I don't mind washing by hand but just being able to put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher instead of it sitting in the sink makes the kitchen look tidier. One of the advantages of having a dishwasher is that the dishes are sanitized. You can't get that with handwashing them. Plus you don't have to wipe them dry, they usually steam dry so all you have to do is take them out and put them away.

I use a dishwasher rather than using the dish soap and water method most of the time... I may, in rare instances, use the dish soap and cloth method or even the scrubber method when I have baked on stuff, dried on stuff or when I really need a pan or pot and do not want to wait to get enough dishes for a load as I believe in having good sized loads of dishes just as I believe in having good sized loads of laundry to conserve energy and water. I have always believed that the dishwasher has strong advantages as you have a controlled amount of water, are getting the dishes uniformly cleaner, and now I have some proof for you: http://www.treehugger.com/files/2005/08/dishwasher_vs_h.php Has reference to a study on the subject that found dishwashers to be by far much better all around than washing dishes by hand as far as less money spent, less energy wasted, less water wasted and less germs on the dishes. Good luck to you whatever you decide to do.

Oops... you might want to read the comments section that page has too... Kind of takes an opposing point of view. It would be best if you could find a detergent low on phosphates perhaps made by ecover or 7th generation as then it would be even better. This is another interesting article to look at: http://www.portlandtribune.com/sustainable/story.php?story_id=116026922858324800 and http://www.greenlivingonline.com/EcoGeek/ask-the-eco-geek-dishwasher-vs-handwashing-2/ It seems like a lot depends on how many loads you do ... I live alone, rinse a dish, put it in the dishwasher and do not deal with it again until I have a big enough load unless I really need something like a knife or pot or pan badly and then I wash it by hand and then put it in the dishwasher again to be washed with all of the other stuff. I have never loved or hated dishwashing but I would rather read a good book or browse on the internet than to wash a dish by hand. Others report mystical experiences with dish washing... to each his own.

I do have a dishwasher but I don't wash the pots and pans in it because it chews up the Teflon. I wash those by hand. I like my dishwasher but every once in a while, I still do them by hand.

I am here in India. I don't have a dishwasher. Couple of my friends have it. When I asked them about the performance of the dishwasher because I was also planning to get one the response I got was not very encouraging. They say its good for lightly dirty plates and utensils but for the greasy plates and spoons the dishwasher is not as effective as we would like to be. The case is specially true for Asian food. Our foods being more oily and with more spices the dishwasher is not really designed to take care of such stubborn grease on the dishes. I prefer to wash my dishes by hand and even though my husband is interested in getting a dishwasher for me I have asked him to forget about the dishwasher and get some nice gift for me instead. maybe a gold necklace would do much better for me than the dishwasher.
