Does your Employer offer good health care? If you are retired, do you still get good health care?

My employer offers health insurance that's pretty decent, but then my employer is a health insurance company. Not sure about after retirement, they probably offer it but I'm not sure if former employees (retirees) get a deal on it or not.

Well, I was thrilled when I got this job as it offered health care. I looked into it and found out that while it is a very good benefit for me, the amount I would have to pay for dependents would take over half of my take home pay per month. A disappointment, but thankfully premiums for individual health plans for kids aren't that bad. If anyone has looked into health plans lately though, it's a shock. Higher deductibles and higher co-pays. My husband is retired and he has a medicare supplement which helps a lot.

Hi, Dixie! My employer does provide insurance, but the cost goes up each year as the coverage goes down. I have had close to $20,000 in copayments in each of the past several years, so no matter how much I earn, I can hardly make ends meet. I haven't retired yet because I need to get old enough for Medicare, since carrying the insurance after retirement is prohibitive in costs, and nobody in their right mind would insure someone with the poor health record I have. I have to wait at least 5 more yeas, just to hold on t insufficient insurance!
