Vigil to Close Philadelphia Nursing Home in Progress!
August 19, 2008 3:51pm CST
I'm a Pennsylvania native and as many of you know, I needed to leave my state to get needed services to live independently. Today, I am proud of my folks! In Philadelphia, protesters spent their first 24 hours camped outside of Philadelphia Nursing Home yesterday, holding a solemn candlelight vigil for the People who Have Died at and the People Wanting To Get Out of Philadelphia Nursing Home (PNH). ADAPT is wondering when Mayor Michael Nutter of Philadelphia will wake up to the abuses and the reality that PNH must be closed. Governor Rendell has said he wanted to close PNH but he can not do it alone. We need Mayor Nutter to be a part of the solution. Supporters of the nursing home closure from all across the country are urged to call Mayor Nutter (yeah, that really is his name!) at 215 686- 2132 and you can also send a message of support to the vigilers by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
