Do you have your little ones help make their lunch for school?

My daughter is 5. And we have started having her help make her lunch. We do this in the evening before bed. She gets her drink and fruit/ raisins etc. Then she puts them in her insulated lunch bag. Her father or I make her sandwich. She puts that in the bag. Then the bag goes into the frigde. She puts it in her backpack in the morning. Do you do this too?

That sounds like a very nice practice. It should also help her take some ownership over what goes in her lunch so she whines less. At least, I think it should help. Practice and theory can differ.

They are so helpful at that age
. Yeah when my sister stays the night here and I have to pack her snack pack she always helps. It makes her feel so independent. She gets free lunches from the school but when she is home she wants to make her own bologna sandwiches and peanut butter sandwiches. She just turned seven but she has been that way since she was 5..got to hold on to those moments and cherish
them because they go by so fast and pretty soon you'll be hollering over the sound of blaring music and trying to get a minute on the phone for yourself..the list goes on..

Hi Ersmommy, My son doesn't have packed lunch but I do encourage me to help me with all food preparation as not only does it involve him but also encourages him to eat it all as he has helped to make. Well done, I think it is great that you are doing this for your daughter. Ellie :D
