My cat love this cardboard box that sits next to my computer. He's scratched the dickens out of it in one corner. So I brought him a scratching post; I'm such a nice owner. However, he doesn't understand it's purpose and still scratches the box, even though the post is right next to it! How do I train him to scratch the post instead?

Cats are such funny little things, they have a mind of their own, I have bought little beds and play things for my cat and she won't have a bar of any of them, I bought one of those poles and cubby houses , she won't even go near it...very independent creatures...

There are cardboard scratchers you can get for your cat. They are flat or inclined corrugated cardboard. My cat eats cardboard. She doesn't swallow it, just spits out little pieces, making a mess. There is nothing I can do about it. I have boxes for them to scratch on, but Peaches eats them instead.
