Would gridiron players be fit enough to play other codes of football

Most gridiron (american football) players look fat & slow. They seem to spend more time sitting on the bench between offensive / defensive plays than actually doing anything requiring fitness, strength or stamina. I wonder how they would match up against the guys playing the tougher, more physical codes of football eg Aussie Rules, Rugby League & Rugby Union.

Do you think any of the other types of players could play in the NFL? There are specific skill sets involved in each game and I would think that they are quite different depending on the position. The players in the NFL make a lot of money and I would think that if these other football players could they would have tried to be in the NFL simply for the money. I think most running backs and even wide receivers and some defensive backfield players could play in those other leagues. Lineman in the NFL could not as they are huge and running isn't what they do a lot of. But when they are in the most popular and best paying league in the world why would they want to?
