Econoic crisis? What's new? I heard that we've been suffering economic crisis since i was a kid. That's nothing new anymore. Might as well hangout in the malls while we still have malls to talk about. Hehehehehe.

I would not say that just because the place is full of malls does not mean that there is no economic crisis looming at all. If you would go to a mall how many of them do you see carrying bags of item they bought only a few of them does buy in a mall. They stay there for the comfort of free aircon and to roam around and foget their problems they encounter outside the mall. It is a better alternative than in the Parks nowadays since it is enclosed if it is hot then a good cool place would be good and if it rains it is good since you could enjoy the place even during a bad weather whereas in Parks when it is hot you sweat a lot and when it rains it is impossible to enjoy the park anymore. Economic crisis is measured by how the people really live their lives. They may be at the malls but can they afford to buy the things sold there? Maybe a few of them can but not all. The balance between the rich and the poor is also to be measured in it. Is the Richer getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Those are the measuring sticks of and economy. Malls may looked liked the economy is doing good but look at the larger picture behind those big buildings and malls are the people happy with it or are they just hiding behind the walls of the mall to escape the harsh realities they face outside the malls.

in the economists point of view, the Philippines is definitely facing an economic crisis. with the prices of basic necessities going through the roof, the typical Juan de la Cruz's pockets are getting lighter and lighter. The good side of the people is that we remain in a happy disposition. I guess some of are in denial that we really don't have money. But that doesn't stop us from window shopping since it's free! :D On the other hand this attitude turns negative when it becames the kahit walang makain, makaporma lang attitude. It pertains to those who would buy flashy phones although have hardly anything for lunch...

That boggles me a lot too. Many people say that they're really suffering and affected by the worsening crisis of the country. Yet we see so many people at the malls. Another thing is that wherever you look, almost everyone has a cellphone. Maybe going to the malls is just one avenue for people to relieve themselves of the stress of fighting for everyday survival...or it could be that we Filipinos just have the love for shopping in our blood

I also don't understand that, I knew we are suffering from economic crisis, as I can feel it but I wonder how come shopping malls are everywhere. Sm is expanding, the next to come is SM in Bulacan and the mall in North EDSa is also expanding, SM has a lot of patrons? Me I don't spend a lot of time in malls because I know I have the tendency to buy and spend more, I'd rather do my grocery shopping in supermarkets and wholesaler stores (like super 8, pure gold etc.) there are not much temptations there.

The number of shopping malls (and there are a lot, I admit; so many it's like they make one in exponential terms) isn't really a good judge on whether our economy is suffering or not, especially considering that the ratio of "people going to malls on a daily basis" : "total population of the Philippines" is largely uneven. There are several factors used to determine whether a country suffers from economic crisis and, from what the experts say, the Philippines has checked quite a number in the check list.

Hello dong. It's true that there are many shopping malls in the Philippines. Maybe, the reason for the construction of many malls in a certain region or country is because of the constant increase in the population. There is a need to construct inorder to cater the needs of the people. Well, I like going to the malls because I get to relax eat and enjoy. Have a good evening dong. See you in other discussions.
