Do you think Olympics is just a game?

Hi,friends,when i was a student,i take olympics seriously,i think it's great,it's all to a country,and it can say so much to a country,and represents the country...now,i just find it's only a big sports meeting for enjoy and entertainment or just a game or party for the world to join.The olympics's medal can't tell us how strong the country is and can't reflect directly the economics or grandness.Medal is our aim,but it's not our final aim,more than the medal...maybe it's just a game...
Do you think so?
And,what is olympics in your opinion?

I have never really been a big fan of the Olympics even though they are kind of interesting because all the countries compete to prove who is better at different events,even though to me,the Olympics are just a sports even with a bunch of games where athletes try to compete for medals,I believe that it has no bearings when it comes to how strong a country is,or how sound its economy is,but that is just my opinion.

Well, i think the Olympics is not just about games... but being recognized as a country... i remeber years ago when East Timor had their first ever participants... that was the time when they were given independence from Indonesia... to be able to join the Olympics means the whole world is recognizing their sovereignty...
It is not all about the medal... but the coming together of different nations as one...

Hi ifglan,
Olympics is the greates game of all and its bring the world together for the avent and yes its is for the greates achivement of the indivaul big getting the Gold medal and also to show how proud of their country, all to often there is politics involve and there unfainess in the games, thats what spoils it for me but all in all I love it.
