God - will religion always be around?

As mankind advances do you think religion will slowly disappear? I am in no way religious and am still undecided whether its a good or a bad thing. I would like to know your opinions, hopefully from those with and with-out a faith in God.

A thousand years from now, all of the major religions will still be around but be as different from now as they are from a thousand years ago. No matter the branch of the faith and no matter the faith, all religions change over time...they have to to survive. I often wonder which so-called founder of a faith would be most surprised to return and see what had happened. I usually decide on the Buddha because in life he never associated himself with being a god and I think he'd be a more than a bit miffed to find himself worshiped. I've had people tell me it would be the Prophet Muhammed because of the rifts in Islam but they are few compared to the literally thousands of types of Christianity.

Do you have a particular faith yourself?
