Lateral Thigh Trainer - Has Anyone Tried One? What Do You Do To Keep Fit?

I asked my eldest daughter what she would like for her birthday and she has asked for a lateral thigh trainer. I have ordered one for her, but does anyone use one, are the any good? I do a lot of walking myself, but my daughter has trampolines and all sorts of keep fit type equipment. What do you do to keep fit? Have uploaded a picture so you can see what one looks like. Ellie :D

recent home improvement project right now has been putting in a gym. aside from the painting and stripping and other generic home renovation activities that are condusive to physical fitness.. weve got a rowing machine, free weights, bike and treadmill. weve also put in a rubber floor area for yoga and tai chi and other "on the floor" type exercises like those ab crunches we hate oh so much

lol yer welcome i figger considering the fees and monthly membership dues.. buying the equipment when i can find it at a discount is going to save me a whole lotta money in the long run.. total cost including paint and flooring and refinishing of the hardwood and all the equipment.. has run us less than $700.. which is about the same amount itd cost to be a member of a decent gym for one year, and we own it FOREVER. plus the added convenience that we can work out at whatever time of day we choose in the comfort of our own home is a definite perk.

That makes perfect sense, the cost of membership is in fact one of the reasons I haven't joined anywhere, even to go for a swim is nearly £5 ($10) a session which is crazy and to also have the convenience of being able to use when you want excellent. I wouldn't have space for one in my home but glad that you are able to at such a low cost really too. Ellie :D

Hi Checapricorn, even though I forgot to upload in the beginning of the discussion as usual LOL. I like playing badminto too but with my little one never get round to it so I'm usually off out and about with him most days. This morning we have walked down to the park and fed the fish and ducks and then played on the play equipment, that works for me. Ellie :D

I would love to get one of these but I am not able to use them! having said that it would probably end up gathering dust like every other fitness thing we have bought! lol I used to cycle a lot and play with the kids as well as walk - that was enough exercise for me! xxx

I am sure that your daughter is much more disiplined than I ever was - I used to love to get outside the house and exercise , if I stayed indoors I always got distracted! lol xxx

Hi Mummymo, It must be so frustrating for you not to be able to do so much now, I really feel for you. Kids certainly do help use up a lot of our energy I agree. I am sure my daughter will have fun with this though. Ellie :D

Greetings ellie333. I have never heard of a lateral thigh trainer. I suspect there is info about them all over the internet but I have not checked it out. I walk on the treadmill about 30 to 45 minutes 4 or 5 days per week, or take walks outdoors or in the mall when the weather is warm the way it is now. I also swim 100 pool lengths in our pool and that takes me between 35 and 40 minutes. I swim the br-ast stroke, not freestyle, as that would probably kill me after the 3rd pool length!I'm gonna check out the picture of the lateral thigh trainer now. Hope I won't want one!

Hey there. Well, try not to be too impressed because, remember, our swimming pool is only 26 feet long. That's not very long. I am not what one would call fit as I need to lose weight. I love to cook and eat good food! But, I figure if I treadmill 4 or 5 times a week and try to swim as much as I can (it's our rainy season so on days I work, it's often raining when I get home), I, at least, have a little more strength and endurance than someone my age who gets no exercise. Taking care of little ones is probably the best exercise ever, ellie. It's practically 24/7, plus you are bending, stretching, reaching, carrying, running, and walking. What better exercise is there than all that?! Thanks for sharing.

Hi PearlGrace, Wow 100 pool lengths and the treadmill, you must be really fit, I haven't a pool and it is so expensive at the public pool to go too often but I do walk a lot and run after my son which uses a lot of energy up too. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie...actually I haven't heard of that one-and my thighs need a work out! what I do have is a turntable you stand on it and bend your legs a little then twist on it in one position.its really good and does give your whole body muscle a work out...also I have an abs-machine but don't use it often as a 'friend' has the weights and video to go with it even so that is good too..my main exercise is walking and guess has been for quite a while now Love and Huggles littleowl

Hi Littleowl, They are supposed to be very good, but I will leave it to my daughter to try LOL, walking is most of my exercise too as I haven't room for machines in the house. I may get a Wii fit to go with the Wii though, that is supposed to be really good and dodesn't take up much space. Huggles. Ellie :D

I've often wondered how successful these machines have been for people - but I don't have one! I do have a pedometer, and make sure I do 10,000 steps every day. My walk takes care of half of those, and with a bit of luck, general stuff around the house polishes off the rest. On a bad day, I have to run on the spot to clock them up before allowing myself to get into bed! Let us know how your daughter goes with her thigh trainer!

I used to work in bookshops and I thought I was keeping fit walking backwards and forwards through the store all day carrying piles or cartons of books. It was a very active job and I also walked to and from the train station each day. I was told that because it was "stop/start" all day that it had no effect on fitness or weight loss.

Hi Guybrush, I have heard good reports and as that is what she has asked for I will get it for her but I won't be using it. I will still to my walking and swimming and general running around after my little one, that uses up loads of energy. Ellie :D

I have a treadmill but I'm too heavy for it at the moment. I got it to lose weight but someone said I would have to walk for 5 hours a day to lose the weight I need to. I'm at a loss as to know how to exercise to lose the extra weight I'm carrying and to get fitter...I ache in all my joints and muscles due to my lack of activity. I've seen women younger than me walking a couple of klms, twice a day for months and only lose a little bit of weight. I'm curious as to how your discussion will go.

By the way Ellie, do you or anyone know what the best time of day is for walking? Early morning, after a meal...there must be a time of day that exercise will have the best effect.

Hi MsTickle, I really don't know when the best time to walk is, it must be difficult with you because of your knee to walk too far anyway. I would suggest swimming would be good if there is a pool near you as this uses up lots of energy. I usually take a walk after a meal as I don't feel so lethergic if I go out for a while but if I sit down after eating I feel sleepy. I really don't know but I hope someone does. Huggles. Ellie :D

I don't use that to keep fit but I walk an indoor track at the rec center we joined. I also bike a lot and stay active outside. I've also discovered these new exercise bikes, they have a virtual screen and you ride with other riders, they have seaside routes and snow covered ones, its pretty cool. It tracks your progress and everything. Here is the link. https://www.expresso.net/UserPortal/welcome.do

Hey hey I love to swim in the summer to help with my weight !! Also, I love to walk and take hikes . In the winter I am not as active , and have to join a gym or something or i will start to put back on the weight i lost . so maybe a curves would be a good idea for me . They have this awesome la fitness by me and they have 3 pools , and spas, and work outs , machines , and all that good stuff . Part of me dont wanna look into , because i bet it is too much money !

Hi Metschica, Oh swimming is great as it exercises every muscle but the water is too cold to swim in the sea here and the pools to expensive so I don't go often now. I think we are all far more active in the summer months though eh! Thanks for sharing. Ellie :D

Hi Tamara, I haven't really space for these exercis machines at home which is why I walk a lot instead but can understand it must be difficult with back problems to use them. I am sure it does work, Mands has got one and said they are good. Huggles. Ellie :D

oh mrs i have one wish you'd said you could have had mine i think they are good i lost quite a few inches off my hips and thighs doing 15 mins every other day, i struggle a bit on it now because i get really weak and tired so i haven't used it in ages. my friend also has one she uses it along with the tredmill she also liked it so positive response so far. My sister found it hard to use though because of the pressure you put on your knees hers are a bit dodgy but your daughter seems active and fit so she should be fine. I'd advise her to hold onto a door frame first couple of times she uses it though as loads of people have wobbled off mine lol

Hi Mands, Thats kind of you but I managed to get a new one off Ebay for slightly less than retial price inc the postage so thats fine, appreciate the thought though. I got her a lolo ball at Christmas, (on her wish list) now that we all fell off of but was great fun and my son has a space hopper but I will bounce around on that being silly too. It is a shame you can't use it now though. I have never asked whats up with you but I do know you have good days and bad days with it which is why you left work as you felt it unfair on them. I hope you have more good days than bad though I really do. Thanks for warning re the wobble LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

I walk lots and also dance around my living room for 15 minutes a couple of times a week. I would love the lateral thigh trainer, I would be interested in knowing how your daughter gets on with it. Not sure how well it works but the adverts made it look really good!

Hi Ellie, I normally go for walks around the neighborhood three to four times a week and sometimes go for a bike ride when the weather is nice. I do have a stationary bike at home when the weather is nasty but I would rather be outside viewing the scenery then sitting on a contraption at home. I would love to go swimming more often but there isn't a pool very close by. It sounds like your daughter has lots of good work out equipment, at least she likes to stay in shape! Huggles, Tianna
