is it just me, or is anyone else getting sick and tired of all these celebrity wanna-bees and has-beens and their so called "reality" tv shows. i think it probably started with "A Simple Life" which was so obviously scripted. and now there are dozens of these shows which i usually avoid, with the exception of Gene Simmons "Family Jewels"....which also is obviously scripted but it kind of grew on me not to mention the fact i'm a huge KISS fan. but anyways, i have seen commercials and probably pieces of a lot of these shows from Tori Spelling, Kim Kardashian, The 2 Coreys, Jessica Simpson (cancelled years ago) and many celebs hamming it up for the cameras. now George Foreman has his family being embarrassed for our viewing pleasure.....from what i've seen on the commercials for that one, not only is it scripted , but they're all very bad actors to boot. so, what's your opinion on these celebrity "reality" shows.......... entertaining television, or a place where bad celebs go to die???

i think it is where bad celebs go to die because they never really do much since.. i am sick of seeing them!! i think the only one that wasnt totally annoying was the osbornes.. if they were scripted they were crazy enough to not look like it haha.. most of these people arent even interesting and the acting so bad its not even humourous in the "omg they think that we buy this" type way.. im all for getting rid of them!!

I actually like reality t.v. shows. There are a few that I always try to catch whenever I can. I love Run's House and Tori and Dean. It's nice because it gives us a glimpse into celebrites lives, and it shows that they're human just like ue. It gives us a chance to seehow they deal with certain situations. I find these kind of shows very entertaining.

i'm sure there's a lot of people that enjoy these shows or else all these celebs wouldn't keep jumping on the band-wagon. i just wasn't a big fan of most of these celebrities when they were.......well when they were on whatever shows they were on. the main point of my post is i don't think the reality is really real.

Do you mean they are too lazy to read a script and act in it? After all they are supposed to be actors. I mean if they kept practicing their lines and learned how to act properly they would not need all these reality shows. I mean have they not got anything better to do? And what about the writers? Why are they not writing scripts and sending them in so these actors get at least some practice? And who wants to show their family life? Oh it must be hard trying to be perfect. But I suppose it is a good chance of showing how good they look and except for Gene Simmons who played a rather evil looking bad guy in that science fiction movie with Tom Selleck, the others I hardly heard about.

so you think maybe by doing these shows, they're just practicing their "acting" skills just in case they get a real acting job again some day? hmmmm.....you might be on to something.

i am from india and watch these reality shows over here also and sometimes even i feel and it is quite obvious that these shows are staged and not at all real. all are scripted. celebs come on these shows only to gain their 15 minutes fame and to come in the public eye in case they are lost in the crowd.

yeah, most of them are from celebs whose 15 minutes ran out long ago and they're just trying to push the clock back and squeeze out a couple more minutes.

I think it has just become an easy way to make a buck. I guess that many people want to cash in and this is jsut the easiest way to do it. I think tht many people are going to do it as long as the networks will sponsor this stuff and people actually tune in to it.

There have been many times when I have stopped watching television, because of the fact that I too am sick and tired of domination of reality TV shows. However, nowadays sitcoms have done a 180 and we now have some good really great shows on TV. I enjoy watching Heros, Smallville and so on, because it's good TV, but at the same time I have also grown to love reality TV. Even though it is "fake TV," however, reality TV has found its niche. Most of us have bought into it, and I am guilty of that. I do enjoy shows like "Do you Think you Can Dance," "America's Got Talent," "American Idol," and the list goes on. However, the irony is that a lot of actors have rebooted their careers by doing some reality show or another. Reality shows are doing really well, because they do have a huge following.

basically my reality tv is America's Got Talent, Survivor, and Amazing Race. other than that i'm more of a History Channel, Discovery Channel, and of course a good sitcom kind of guy.

Do you think the Simmons show is scripted? I have a feeling it is real, but edited out the wazoo. I don't watch much reality TV. I enjoy Family Jewels but I don't make an effort to watch it. I think a lot of the entertainers are trying to save their careers and get back int the limelight.

i think Family Jewels is at least partially scripted. i mean some of the "adventures" they end up going through are pretty improbable.....but it's still funny. i also think Gene Simmons probably signed on more for the fun of it and probably for the marketing value, where as a lot of the other celebs are just trying to hold on to their 15 minutes of fame, Gene's successful with so many things in his life, i think he's just having a little fun.

You are absolutely right! The new reality show is nothing more than a sitcom disguised as a reality show. I always thought a reality show was supposed to be real and raw, but that's just not true anymore. Remember when MTV produced the first reality show "Real World"? That was real and raw, but now we just have has-been actors and actresses or celebrities who are more known for their bedroom videos than anything else, trying to look like they are just being themselves, when in fact their show is just a slick, carefully thought out scenario. Entertaining maybe. Real; not so much!

more often than not these shows barely cut it as being entertaining or carefully thought out scenarios.......but i guess as long as people are watching, they'll keep making them.

I really do not watch any of the celeb shows. The only reality shows I watch are Survivor and Amazing Race. I am beyond hooked on those. As a matter of fact a few years ago I was all set to turn my application to be on Survivor, then I found out that my daughter had to have brain surgury so I didn't get to do it then.
