Anyone have a problem with their fingernails curling?

This is really bothering me, my fingernails have been curling for quite a few years now. But they use to only curl when they were getting a little longer, now they are curling under on some nails as soon as they have grown past the nail bed. It's ugly and annoying. At first I thought maybe it had to do with lack of calcium or something, but I have been taking calcium supplements now for a few years and they are only getting worse, so it must not be that. I was going to ask my Doctor the next time I see her about it, so far I just don't think of it while I'm there. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know why or just figure it's nothing and that's just how your nails are?

Both of my pinkie nails and the nails on my middle fingers curl to the side past the nail bed - they can look quite crooked, and it used to really bother me. I've learned how to trim them to make them look more even, and I've also just adjusted to the fact that I'll never be a hand model, lol. I figure that's just the way my nails are; my mom says my grandmother had the same problem. You can bring it up to your doctor, but I'm not sure there's anything that can be done.

For me it's all of my nails now that curl. And mine curl straight downward on most of my fingers now, so that I can feel my nail tip on my fingertip. The reason I would like to bring it up to my doctor is because I have read before that it is a sign of a possible disease, I can't remember which one or ones it said though. But I would like to know if there is some fact to that or if it's just an old wives tail sort of thing.
