I went to the garage (our container garden has been in there cause of Fay) to check on my garden and the beans I planted the other day have one inch sprouts coming up!! I am so excited! The other seeds I planted are still not growing yet but know it is just a matter of days before I will see them popping up as well. I will try to get out there to take picks of them later today. Oh and my cucumber plant is making a come back also!! It was just too hot when I planted it and it only gave me two cukes so I hope with the new growth I will get more now that it isn't so stinking hot. here in FL we have the opposite problem of some places where it is very difficult to grow things in the summer cause of the blasted heat. We start a lot of seeds in august and september and harvest in December and beyond if the weather is kind to us.

That is I believe my favorite part of gardening - seeing the seedlings pop their head through the dirt. I'm like a mother hen almost setting on my garden or pots until I see them coming through.
There are advantages and disadvantages to living in Florida. In Michigan we have a short growing season but we also don't have 'Fays'.
Congratulations on your new births though :)

that is true. Right now Fay is dumping a ton of water on us.

Hoping all will be OK soon - I love your garden fairy you mentioned above, what a darling idea.

It never ceases to excite me when my seedlings start to show. I've been really remiss this year and not planted many of my own due to just being distracted and busy so I bought seedlings at market for the veg garden instead. I missed that lovely stage of nurturing them until they're large enough to transplant.

I have gone both ways with buying seedlings and starting from seeds. I must say that the satisfaction that comes with starting from seed is a bit higher than with seedlings. I get satisfaction from both though.

Wow, that's wonderful. i used to have beans in my yard but I stopped planting one for no one in the household eat that, including myself. We are prone to arthritis, taht's why we don't eat that anymore.
