Hello to all my mylot friends! I don't have very good news today. Yes, you heard right. I am over 22 today and getting older... It just doesn't seem very confortable when there is still a long way for your goals to reach and the time is running out quickly. I just don't like being able to remember what I used to do 15 years ago... I just couldn't do that when I was younger and it was really better... The same thing applies for little children (my relatives, nephews, neices etc.) are getting old, beginning and graduating primary school and going secondary school now... Am I getting old too fast?

You're 22 and you think you're old and your time is running out quickly??? Listen, kiddo, I was a stay at home mom for 17 years, started college at age 35 and not only achieved my academic goals but I also worked in the industry I trained for for 7 1/2 years. I decided to give up the rat race 4 years ago and move to Florida...took off for 1 year and have been back to work in a different industry for almost 3 years now. And I am only 52. So, stop feeling old...you're still wet behind the ears, you still have many, many good years ahead of you and plenty of time to achieve your goals. By the way, my youngest graduated from high school this past spring and I have been a grandmother for over 7 years. You're only as old as you think you are and I don't think 52 is old so there's no way you're old!

wow! You really sound great! maybe this is also because of my inexperience in my life. You know, I have never been that "old" in the life and getting older and experiencing those stuff just made me worried about the situation for a moment. By the way, I really liked the way you said "kiddo" I would even change my nickname to this one if I had the chance :) By the way, it is a great achievement you did there! working for different industries and being able to do this for several years is not easy for everyone. Especially in my country. Unemployment is being a very big problem and even if you are graduated from university you won't be able to get a job very easily and even if you do,you won't earn the money which would be enough to handle a family. However, this is another issue. By the way, as I know from movies and internet, Florida is a "relax" and peaceful place to live ( please doN't blame me if I am wrong :) ) So, I think this is a wonderful selection! I would love to do something similar also!

I'm glad you liked my post....thanks for the best response! I do understand how odd it feels every year when you get older but old really is a state of mind. I do wish you the best of luck in reaching your goals and that you have a lot of success in your future. Yes, Florida is a very nice place to live, I fell in love with this area the first time my husband brought me down here on vacation to meet his family.

Happy birthday to you!! No, you're not getting old too fast, but perhaps, you're thinking old too fast. I can remember writing a passage in my diary when I was 15 and saying something to the effect of..I'll look back on this when I'm old, like 30 and laugh my butt off...and now...I'm 35 and I think...oh to be so young again. But I'm fairly pleased with my life. For the most part I'm content. Sure there are certain things I would do differently if I could go back and do it all over again...but I can't and there's no sense in bringin myself down about it. Make the most of every single day...that is my advice to you. Be a pleasure to yourself and those around you and just enjoy your stay on this earth...don't focus so much on aging because it is just a part of life and living. Happy birthday to you...Happy birthday to you...Happy birthday dear the_ruler...Happy birthday to you!!! And many more!!

wow :) thank you very much for your interesting response! This is really good to hear and all I hope is just reaching some typical goals before I turn much older and I think when I have warrantied those things I will feel much better. But as you have just mentioned, the life is never waiting and we shouldn't complain about our past because it is very far away. Even further than the furthest stars... the technology may advance and make you reach them one day but that doesn't apply for the past. Life is so precious... Every second, every moment.. We should do our best not to waste it for useless things. Thank you again for great response.

I turn 26 next tuesday so I am with you. I don't like knowing what I did ten or twenty years ago. I mean i guess as I get older the age with be different but I will still remember unless my memory starts to go haha. It does seem unfair that my little cousins are getting older.

Don't feel bad, life expectancy has increased; ypu'll be around for 60+ years. If you really want to have a bright future, save $2.00 each day until you retire. You will be very happy when you get to be "old". Life is just a matter of perspective.

casual chatting is what I and most mylotters are doing here. You know, it doesn't feel to get older when you still feel you should have done some more stuff when you look back. It looks you feel the same way.. Being alone is not an easy thing and for myself, it is one of the hardest things to experience. I had that too and my life was just miserable... I hope a very good and natural development in your life to make you feel you're satisfied with it... Thank you for the response.

''Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. " This is a right thing but is not really about me. I mean, you know I am not one of the people who is trying to get older soon for being able to do some stuff. The only years I wanted to grow up was my high school years. I was just not getting on well with my friends so I just wanted to finish it as soon as possible and the only way was waiting for years to pass but I was already aware of the importance of my young age in every period of life.. I didn't want to grow and go to school very soon when I was a child, I didn't want to finish my primary as soon as possible to go secondary because I knew the days of primary school would never come back. Yes, the power of youth is very important and it is something you can not hold on very long. It is what I was worried of when I started discussion. and, I didn't misunderstand you. I didn't feel any offence in your response really and didn't really try to be mean to you. When I said "thank you for the response" it was really a sincere one.
22 Aug 08
wel if you had seen my discussion you would also understand why after seeing yours, I couldn't believe how you are feeling.. You are doing well, and you are a very educated man.. with still your whole life ahead of you. you in better position then a lot in turkey, i do admire you, i know it is not easy to get on good in life there.. And yes loneliness do suck bigtime.. We never happy with our ages, when you are 30, you be wishing you was 22.. Below is taken from a song.. ''Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you imagine. Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.'' Take Care

You say you are over 22 but not how much over. You sound like you are approaching 70. If you are only 23 or so you have a long way to go. I know...I am 67 and it was a long time ago when I could say I was just over 22. LOL I do mean a LONG time ago. To put it in perspective: Your 20's are for learning and preparing yourself for your lives work. College....getting work experience in many different areas until you find something that fits you. The your 30's are your building years. Here you should be established in your life’s carrier and truly begin learning what life is all about. Your 40's then should put you solidly in your carrier and continue to build your nest egg for retirement. It is never too early to do that. Your fifties should be your golden years. You know everything there is to know about what you do and you are now of great value to what ever you apply yourself at. So now come your 60's. If you have followed a plan you will be able to retire early and then begin enjoying life. Travel. Start a hobby you kept putting off. But just enjoy what ever you really like to do. By your 70's then you have finally figured out what life is all about and truly can enjoy it as long as you have your health. So if your only 23 you have a very long way to go. From my perspective you are still very much a kid. Enjoy it now while you can and let the future take care of itself.

Of course you are right about the future not being so clear for you. What I tell you is from experience but also from understanding. None of us are guaranteed that our life will be the way we plan it. So because we have no guarantee you truly have nothing to lose if you make a plan for your life and follow that plan as if you would live forever. No it's not easy at all. For those of us who have been there can attest to that. It is not easy but it is very doable. The very worse thing you can do is to not try for you will get just what you try for....nothing. My best to you.

Very nice plan for the whole life! I have never seen someone who would be able to do that with great consistency! In fact, you are talking about very good things. If I was able to do what you mentioned on the age you considered, then that would be one of the best things. But I felt that older people are talking more bravely on this discussion so that makes me think it is also a matter of experience too. Look at the young people's responses. they are mostly feeling in the same way with me. It is because the future is unclear for us yet, but you have passed all the ways and reached what you are now, but still there's no warranty for us,we have to work, be lucky and pass those years sucessfully. thanks for your great response

Oh that's nothing. Wait til you are on the downslope of your twenties. I am 27, knocking softly on the door of thirty. I am seeing my younger siblings that I used to diaper getting older and making their own choices. My youngest sister turned 18 this year and moved out. My cousins that used to be on my heels are graduating from high school and going into college. A few of them have their first children, and one has his first on the way. Another cousin of mine is married and has two children. I even see neighbor kids from my younger days and I have to blink twice to make sure its them. They are still stuck in my head as eight, nine, and ten! Yes, you are getting old too fast. The worst stuff is yet to come lol.

What really makes me feel old is when kids call me "Miss Kenya". Gawd that goes through me like a bolt of lightning. My friend doesn't like it either. I teach my kids to call him "Mr. Rob" for reasons of respect, and he hates it!!! I tell him that I will have my dose when his child gets old enough to call me by name.

heheh, yes that's what I am feeling exactly. Especially when I look at the children who were only 2 or 3 now going high school etc. and makes me feel old. It looks the same thing applies for you too. But elder people won't like us to complain about that thing but it looks we, the people in twenties complain more about aging and getting old who are older than us. Maybe it's also a part of life and we will overcome it when we get older...

getting older, is a natural phenomena. This happens to everyone every living human being in this world. So it is not a thing to worry about. As you are getting older, you have more responsibilities on your shoulders now. Think of this in a different perspective, now you are a major. You can do anything you want, you can change things in this world. You can drink and smoke, and also can choose your life partner of your own. You are your life's sculptor. As you grow older, you go on sculpting, and finally became a beautiful sculpture. Which the future generation will admire.

You should be glad that you have another year added to your life. Some people don't even get the chance to live as long as you do. I think that in order for you not to feel that your aging too fast is to enjoy life and to cherish every moment in your life. Age is just a state of mind always remember that.

"Age is just a state of mind" Yes, that's a good quote. This is why I don't know my exact age most of the times. I mean, when I am asked my age suddenly, I just count it and say my age. and when I was beginning the discussion I just wanted to make sure if I was over 22 or 23 by counting the years. I just don't want to be caring about my age and doN't say it so often, when I remember it after not saying for a few years it looks it growed fast heheh thank you for your response!

First of all I would like to greet you a Happy Birthday!...Just go with the flow, enjoy your life while you are still young so you will not get old too fast. Life is so beautiful, you esplore it but be cautious of whatever you do just be sure that you do what is right and proper. Don't get influence with bad vices. Choose your friends. Lift all your worries to God. You are still very young, you still can do a lot of things in this world. Be happy.
