the word homeless shouldn't exit

I can't believe how anybody in the world is homeless, there is enough money in this world for the homeless to be give a new life.
Take the UK for example, we have the millienium dome, what a waste of money to mark the year 2000, it cost millions and millions to build, and it is only used occasionally now, that money could have saved people who were on the street. There are so many millionaires and billionaires in this world and they could do something to help. I think my law for every million pounds you earn, 10% should be put into helping the homeless. The thing that me and my mum dream of doing, is buying lots of flats and giving them to the homeless for 1 year no charge, help them with getting qualifications, getting a job (its a catch 22, can't get a job without an address
etc etc). After a year they start to pay a bit of rent, and then you can help them get a place of their own and the flat is then given to a new person/family.
The money going to be spent for the olyimpic games in 2012 is going to be huge......why do we need an olyimpics, why spent all that money for a few months when so much can be done for people with so little.
I watched a documentry on the homeless, and it made me think if tomorrow i became homeless, i wouldn't know what to do, or who to turn to, do you call the police?, where is my nearest centre/hostel....
i can't believe that the government swan around in their fancy cars and go to bed at night in their big houses knowing full well, that there are people living in cardboard boxes. its digusting

Great discussion, I agree with you 100%. I often think the same thing, why some people have more than they need, four and five houses and others do not even have a pot to p**s in. A lot of people look at homeless people as no good bums, that is not always the case. It could happen to any one of us at any time. I was laid off from my job two months ago, I am so worried about my fate, because I am not able to find a job that pays enough money to pay my rent.
We have these athletes, who make so much money, and are still doing silly things that put them in prison, why does one have to be paid so much money to throw a ball?
No one should be homeless, the government should take care of their own.
I went online today, to see if I could qualify for some sort of aid until I found a job, it came back that I was not eligible.
I find it digusting as well.

i tried to get a loan to pay off my debts, and i've been told by companies that i'm not in enough debt to qualify how stupid, its only because they aren't going to make much profit from me that they aren't interested

This is a selfish, selfish planet. Not as individuals but as a whole. Rich people are afraid to give up some of their money because once they open the floodgates, everyone comes running with their hands out. Poor people don't really want to do anything about their situation, they just want everything handed to them.
Mind you, I don't mean every single rich person or every single poor person, I mean in general. I'm sure Donald Trump gives a yearly contribution to somebody or some organization.
I totally hear you, though. They should put a cap on total personal worth, and everyone in a certain bracket should have to donate to people less fortunate. More education funding and child welfare funding. People who make less money should pay less taxes and vice versa for wealthier people. Housing projects should be torn down and rebuilt into upscale apartments(the original tenant would still occupy the new residence).
It would be nice if everyone was even in some way, but the greedy stay greedy and the poor stay hungry!

I agree with you. I have often thought of all these celebrities that make millions and sometimes are worth billions. Why can't they donate and help people out. What do you need a billion dollars for. YOu can never spend all of that. It is really disgusting I agree.
