How many of you have heard of The Urban Cat Project. It is my favorite cat rescue in the San Francisco Bay Area. They don't deal in volume like the big shelters, but they assure quality adoptions. The cats in their shelter have nice big cat houses to live in while they are waiting for a forever home.
In each cat house they have 1 or more cat trees for the cats to climb on and use for scratching. They also have shelves on the walls for lounging on up as high as they wish to go.
Each cat house has 2 windows so kitty can look out in the garden and watch whatever is going on. This brings me to the small garden. They get let out every day to play or do whatever they want. It is totally cat proofed and safe. Kitties can't escape into the dangerous world outside.
I've met a few of the cats and they are such wonderful creatures. Boy do they get pampered while they are waiting for the right home.
To make it better it's a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization, funded by donations.
Ok folks, Let's talk about cat rescue.

That sounds like a wonderful place for the kitties. I live in New Jersey, and there are a few no kill shelters, but they are not as fancy as the one you mentioned. One of my kitties was adopted from a animal hospital, and the other was gotten from a pet store, that have pet adoptions.
Every Christmas, we take our Jakie to have his picture taken with Santa, boy does he hate it
some of the proceeds from that goes towards animal rescue.

A small shelter can do more for each cat. Unfortunately places like the pound have hundreds and can't give each one individual care. If you want some eye candy check out their website. They just got a new white kitty. She's so adorable. But they all are.
The President the Urban Cat Project is a good friend of mine.

Mine is Cats About Town Society of Sacramento. We are all volunteer, no kill, and our cats are in foster homes during the week, and at PetSmart on the weekend.
