Guys, do you know what is different between emphaty and symphaty? Are they have an equal meaning?

Empathy would be more simliar to telepathy, but whereas telepathy is knowing another person's thoughts, empathy is knowing another person's emotions. Sympathy on the other hand, is more to do with support of another person's situation emotionally.

well, i think telephaty is not similiar to emphaty. Telephaty is like the same feeling between two people in different place in a distance. Like when you are thinking of someone and then he suddenly calls you. I hope i am right for this...:) Anyway, thanks so much for response.

Ah no, that's not telepathy, that's just sharing a link with someone. Telepathy is deeper than that.

To me symphaty is when we identify with the feelings of others and emphaty is to put ourselves in someone's shoes and understand what they are going through. I believe I am right.

No they actually mean different things! They are somewhat similar though..... Sympathy is when you SHARE the feelings of someone else; Empathy is when you identify more closely with a person's feelings. For example, you may feel sympathy for someone because they have broken up with their partner; but you would be showing empathy if you were to sit with them and explain how you can relate to what they are going through because you have been through the same thing yourself. I guess another way to put it is that showing empathy to someone is far more hands on and involved than showing sympathy!

Yes, i agree with you. I think Sympathy is a feeling, Emphaty is an action for a feeling. Thanks for response. Good day for you!
