Hi elouiseguerrero. I am a call center agent from one of the known call centers in the country and regarding tips well you should be patient in dealing with customers esp. if they are irate or say bad words bec. of the service they get from your account..well it's already expected.Aside from being knowledgeable regarding computer settings and you should at least know how to speak their language. The centers actually has trainings regardless its trouble shooting or customer service skills or english proficiency. You will undergo training and the training you get is just 50% of what you have learned inside the room and the rest will actually be learned on the floor.Being a call center agent you will lose your sense of time and date. You will not be intrested in knowing the date because you will be interested in waiting for your day off:to rest or go out with friends. You will learn to be strong, confident and it will boost up your self-esteem once you entered the industry. I am a tech. support representative from one of the ISP provider in the US which they placed their account in the Phils.I suggest you apply as a tech support not as a customer service representative. The difference between tech. support rep and customer service rep is that for CSR you will only learn how to memorize bec. the lines are scripted for TSR you do troubleshooting with the customers and though there are some lines that are scripted but you will learn the American language more bec. there's no script for troubleshooting..you will learn how to be spontaneous with regard to your dialogue to the customer. Would you believe that sometimes I already adapted the attitude of some American clients esp. with regard to their rights as a customers?I am applying it actually without me knowing it.I know that if I pay something I should get what I am paying for and for what I deserve to get.As TSR nothing is constant. You will solve the same issues but you will have different styles for each customers. It's fun but it's tiring. You earn more than twice than a regular employee who work in banks or a government employee. You are actually well compensated, you will have a medical card provided by the company and you will have a good treatment at the hospitals. There's more but what's important is that you should build confidence first in you before you enter the industry and if you are weak you don't have a place in a call center company. Disadvantages would be if you don't smoke and drink...you will learn it.But still it's up to you if you will join those people but you will be asked to stay and join them for team building if not you will be called a killjoy. You will either know how to earn and save money or you will learn to become a spendthrift person. So I have already provided you some tips and I hope you can sit back and relax and contemplate if you are right for the job and ready for the advantages and disadvantages of being a call center agent. Have a nice day. pinksBEE
