Day girl only. I did 3rd shift once for a test run. I got no sleep, it was horrible.

I have only worked 1st and 2nd... But I think I could handle the 3rd shift.. :) But I definitely do NOT want to EVER go back to the 2nd shift, because I'd never get to see my kids, except on the weekends.. :( And that doesn't go over well with me... :)

I like the first shift at work since I am a morning person. I used to work the late shift while I was at the banks but when I changed jobs I have been working 1st shift which is much better for me since I get up early anyways.

I prefer 1st shift, so that I can have the rest of the day for myself when I get home. But, when I go to school in the mornings, I have to do the 2nd shift. At least that's what I used to do before the baby came along. We'll see how that's going to work out when I go back to school.

I hope it works out for you. Me I do not like the 2nd shift one I am a single mother and that is my whole day away from my kids.So 3rd shift is working out for me and I will be starting school in the mornings so it'll work out well for me. thanks for responding take care

I worked 3rd shift for 2 years. I did like the fact that I could handle things during the day without taking off too much time, however, there were some days that I barely got 3 hours of sleep, and some days I just a 20 minute catnap was all I could squeeze in. Sleep deprivation finally got the best of me and I couldn't do it any longer. Now that I am back on 1st shift, I rediscovered how much I love sleeping when it's dark and quiet outside, and I don't think I could ever go back to 3rd shift... unless I had no other choice. I commend you on working 3rd shift, because I am one that knows how hard it can be. And be careful handling your business during the day hours... remember, you need sleep too.

When my oldest was a baby, I loved working 3rd shift. I was able to stay home and take care of him during the day, sleep when my late hubby got home from work, then get up and spend a couple hours with the family and head off to work. The hours I prefered to work (b4 we moved from NY) was 6am to 12noon, I totally loved those hours because I still was able to errands done before the boys got home from school.

I've never worked anything except 1st shift, and I know I couldn't handle those night shifts. I am an early morning person who likes to get up and get things done. My husband worked 2nd shift for a few months when the children were little, and I hated never seeing him.
