I haven't seen this in malls, but I've seen my share of them while they're driving their cars! I guess they don't realize that anyone can see them. Anyway, I agree that it is gross! Not only gross, but highly unsanitary as well. If these people have a cold, or even just the cold virus with no symptoms yet, anything they touch with that finger is going to hold onto that virus for awhile and anyone could come along and pick it up (high probability among fellow nose-pickers!). It seems that morals, decency, etiquette, cleanliness, and just plain common sense have gone out the window with so many people these days. It's like no one cares about anything anymore, even themselves. I don't believe in 'putting on airs' to try to impress anyone, but picking your nose, especially in public, tells me that these people are basically pigs and they are no one I want to deal with or even know. Yeah, you've got to keep your eyes open all the time and be wary of everyone. You've got to assume the worst when dealing with people you don't know. I think, being the blunder-mouth that I am, I would probably want to go into that store with the salesman who picked his nose, put on a plastic glove and hold out my hand so he could shake it. Once he gave me that 'huh?' look () I'd explain that I saw him picking his nose with it and I didn't want to touch it. I bet he would very quickly 'find' something else that needed to be done right away and lose that sale because of his embarrassment. Or, if he wasn't the least bit phased by my actions, I'd tell him I've decided to go with another salesman whom I did not see picking his nose. Yeah, it's a shame that society is going downhill so fast these days. That's one reason my husband and I moved to the country... to put as much distance between "society" and ourselves as we could.

P.S. There's absolutely NO difference between "upper class" and us normal people except that they have more money and they're often "snobs". They may try to make us think that they're better than us, but they're not. In fact, I've seen many so-called "upper-class" people who have morals, ethics, etiquette and hygiene much lower than the average person!

Kudos! I agree with you whole-heartedly. (Though, I'm not sure I'd have to gall to call someone out on this! I'd probably just shake my head and walk the other way.) I also agree with your comment to your comment! (

Must be a persons habit. Somebody should have advice them not to do things like that in public. That is way too gross.

Nah I have not been to one. I make sure that I go to proper malls here in the Philippines. Though most of our malls here are pretty posh even if the state is really losing money from corruption. I think people here are just more conscious about how they look like and their status. That is usually the case for third world countries. The rich just dominates the place and dictates behaviour. Its extreme, the barrier between the rich and the poor. So if you're in the middle and trying to emulate the rich you'll get scared of doing some eeeky stuff like picking your nose in the public.
