I havent heared any Yardbird songs yet but I know they inspired legends such as Alice Cooper, and I know that the yardbirds prertty much progressed into Led Zepplin, as the New Yardbirds, also created by Jimmy Paige was to fill in for tours etc..anyway Which of the two 'phases' are the better, Yardbirds or Led Zepplin?

Zepeelin is better. I just think it had a wider variety of songs, and they're all really good.

Actually, the Yardbirds did not progress into Led Zeppelin. Jimmy formed a new band (with Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones) and had obligations to cover for concerts, so used "The New Yardbirds" to fulfill those commitments, then they renamed the band (at the suggestion of Keith Moon, who commented the band should go over like a 'lead zeppelin').

Well progress was the wrong word...But I know that Page was in the Yardbirds and created The New Yardbirds which the progressed into Led Zeppelin...in a sense he or someone else split the Yardbirds...or whatever...I believe their back now...thogh
