I just read that the singer/rapper Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris, was convicted of aggravated assault against a waitress at Jermaine Dupri's Studio 72 nightclub. This assault happened last year on Halloween and apparantly bashed this waitress with a rum bottle while she was working at a Halloween party at the club. It seems that the two women had an existing beef with each other that came to a climax at the party. Police came in after Da Brat apparantly slashed the woman's face with the glass rum bottle. The waitress was sent to the hospital and suffered permanent facial scars as a result of her injuries. Today, an Atlanta judge sentenced Da Brat to three years in prison and seven years probation for this assault. If you are not familiar with her music, you might remember her from television as she was a contestant on the fifth season of the Vh1 show Celebrity Fit Club and also as a cast member on the fourth season of The Surreal Life. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

does anyone know what caused the fight to begin with? Three year is a lot. Prison is no joke. I have never been and don't want to go. They should make her pay for all surgeries she mite have to have. Plus pay her. You can't do that behind bars. What did the other woman have in her hand before she got hit. Do you know that? I mean nothing just walking by got hit. need more facts. On it. So now we have to pay for her. Free med. food clothes. Do you know that they get cable in prison? I can't afford cable.

I don't know what the fight was about. I know 3 years is alot of time, but then again she could have killed this girl. And I heard that she is a professional cheerleader too, so now that her face is scarred from the glass I think her career will be hurt too. If you do the crime, you have to do the time.

Dont know who she is but I dont think that 3 years is enough for ruining some ones face! even if the woman goes to get plastic surgery look at the pain and suffereing she is going to go thru!

Yep, it just makes me wonder what in the world she did for her to smash a glass bottle onto her head and face!

I remember hearing about this awhile ago. At least they got her taken off the streets. There is no excuse for her behavior. Being famous does not mean that she can get away with assault or murder. If she's going to behave like a criminal she needs to be treated like one. Plain and simple.

Yes, I hate hearing about how celebrities serve like 48 minutes in jail and then are let out. It is just ridiculous because you are famous you don't have to be treated like the common person.

She only has 3 years behind bars and her victim has lifetime disfigurement. I call that pretty unequal. I hope that her time in prison allows her the opportunity to develop some self control and respect for other people.

Yes, and I will guarantee you that that victim will probably try to sue her, wouldn't you?

Well, I have to say this doesn't really surprise me. She acted like a jerk on the Surreal Life and on Celebrity Fit Club. I don't know why some people have an attitude like this in life. I can't stand people that are full of themselves.

I can't either. She messed up someone's face over a fight. And this girl is a professional cheerleader! What a mess. And she only gets 3 years for that? She could have killed her!

I've never heard any of her music but it sure sounds like she needs some anger management classes. Maybe next time she'll learn to control her temper. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Da Brat is definitely living up to her name. I remember seeing her on The Surreal Life, and she acted like she was too good to be on such a show. She complained about having to live in a house with "Peter Brady" (Christopher Knight.) Hey, missy, at least most people know who he is! I agree that Da Brat's sentence is too light., and she probably won't even serve a year before getting out on some sort of deal. Paris Hilton only served a few days in prison before throwing a hissy fit to get out.

I think that all of these celebrities are getting off too easily. And it is because they are famous. What gives a famous person the right to commit a crime more than the common person?

Good she deserves it. A chick fight is supposed to be pushing slapping and hair pulling only. Stars think the laws don't apply to them. Well I guess she learned they do. She should have gotten a much longer sentence.

And this is why celebrities should not be held up on a pedestal and why I am glad when certain celebrities in the past, including Eminem and Fiona Apple, have come out and said that they are not role models.
