Do you think when the flies start coming in the house and acting what we call sticky
that Autumn is on the way? Or is that just an old wives tale. I sure hope this summer weather is about over. All the smoke, from forest fires and the extreme heat
has made it very difficult to catch your breath. At least the temp has let up and the smoke has been headed out to sea instead of inland for the last several days.

I didn't know that about crickets, I do know that the temp. seems to have a great deal to do with how loud they are. Also we have tree frogs and they are the loudest, some nights we have to close the windows to sleep. I'm ready for Autumn, it's my favorite time.

Interesting theory. I haven't heard that one yet. But it might very well be true. I think there are just more things around for flies to thrive on and multiply and then they fly around and make their way inside houses, too.
I can understand your need for this summer to be over from the circumstances you have described. It's quite nice around here right now...
