I live in the Philippines. In cour country, there are some ice cream sold in the streets which is very cheap. There are also ice cream sold in stores which is more expensive. Is it because the ice cream in stores is advertised that is why it is expensive or it is just the ice cream company who wants more and big profits..?

By street ice-cream, do you mean the bell-ringing ones, right? Not the music-playing ones (since those are branded)... Well, I disagree. Although there are products where you pay for the brand and stuff, street ice cream is very far from the branded ones, in my experience. The texture and taste are very different. But I don't dislike street ice cream. ^_^

Hmm.. I suppose you may be right. ^_^ Can ou perhaps tell me where the street ice cream you're talking about is usually found? I'm interested, since I've never tried it. ^_^ Though if it's somewhere I'll never be going to, I'll prolly never get to try it. :( But, at least I'll find out, hehe.

The ingredients are the same, I guess what we pay for are the brand names. And those ice cream sold in stores were using imported materials unlike the other one.

I worked in an ice cream factory many years ago and when we would switch brands all we would do is switch containers....there was nothing more added to make the more expensive brand! So it was all the same ice cream but just put in the containers with a different name.

i think that the basic ingredients in making the expensive ice cream and the cheap one are the same. It is just that additional ingredients are added to the expensive to make them look good on the surface.. And also i think that when you buy an expensive one, you are not paying only for the ice cream but for the name of the company like companies that are known or famous usually have products that are expensive. And also for the profits the store selling the ice cream sets and also for the additional tax or VAT..

Are you sure they taste the same? I totally disagree. I don't like street ice cream. For me, they don't taste good and they may be made in unhygienic ways. I still prefer the branded ice creams even if they cost me some money. They are way tastier. But I know why street ice cream is popular. Because it is cheap! And we all know how thrifty people are getting now.

Its sometimes a mater of supply and demand and other times its companies or retailers just trying to make a buck off of customers. Thats why its often a good idea to shop around and keep mental notes of who sells what kind of products the cheapest. I like to buy generic or non-name brand products because normally the quality isnt so diffrent and I save some money, which when your a college student saving money is always a good thing lol. Especially on Ice Cream!!

yeah, almost ice creams tastes the same but costs differently. generally its because you're paying for the brand name and not necessarily the product.

yeah .is a good question. the answer having various reasons. one reason is most people think when the coast 'll be hight then'll be high its quality.the cheaper and branded quality icecreams tastes almost the same. because the basic ingredients of icecream is the same ..milk, cream and sugar.
