Free Will

Do you believe in free will? I remember a tale that said that God gave us free will and that is what makes us special and different. Now with the concept of heaven and hell, do you think that God strips us of our free will when we die? If no then why can't souls trapped in hell or in purgatory just leave that condemned place?

I thought the idea of the free will and heaven and hell was that we choose, during Life (with our free will) where we will spend our eternity. Once we have passed on, free will is no longer an option. Remember, we reap what we sow
